Plymouth Calling! 💅💖🩰

Blog post #3369 - www.pink-tutu.com

Hello darlings! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back again with another fabulous blog post! This time, I'm fresh off the train from a whirlwind trip to the seaside city of Plymouth. Ooh, the ocean air! The smell of salt and seaweed! The way the seagulls screech like excited children! You know me, always craving adventure, and Plymouth definitely provided it.

Now, let's rewind a bit. I woke up yesterday in my Derbyshire digs, feeling the urge for a change of scenery. My lovely grandma knitted me this gorgeous, pink, woolly cardigan recently, and I wanted to debut it properly. You see, wearing something handmade always adds a touch of sparkle to my outfit, don't you agree? My intuition told me a journey was needed. Train tickets booked, pink luggage packed (did you see that matching pink suitcase with the dancing ballerina handle?), I was off!

But before we get to Plymouth itself, let me share my exciting travel anecdote. My dear, I don't know if you know this, but I have a bit of a secret. I am totally in love with travelling by train. It's the epitome of romantic escapism for me, you know? Just me, a cup of tea, a book (I’m reading ‘The Art of Wearing Pink’ by my favourite fashion icon, Gigi Gorgeous, currently!), and the passing landscape to observe. Oh, and did I mention the complimentary biscuits? Always a delightful treat! I even sneakily purchased a cute little pink bunny rabbit toy in the station that just had to come with me - its little pink nose kept bouncing as we sped through the countryside, I'd swear it was cheering with me!

And finally, after a glorious train ride, I found myself in Plymouth, a charming port city that absolutely lives up to its "Mayflower" nickname! Oh, and did I mention they're all about the seafood here? Cue drooling emojis. They had this delicious Cornish fish and chips, all served in pink paper – I just had to document it for you, my loves! The fish was perfectly crispy, and the chips were fluffy on the inside. Of course, I couldn't resist a spot of tea with a side of pink and cream (for that delightful floral and sugar rush!), which I sipped while watching the boats come and go from the harbour.

Now, you all know that Pink Tutu Sparkles can't visit a new city without finding some fabulous fashion! Plymouth certainly didn't disappoint! I stumbled across this cute little boutique selling vintage clothing and found the most exquisite pink silk dress, with delicate lace embellishments. It whispered “take me home!” and who am I to disagree? Plus, it just needed a few well-placed sparkles! Of course, my look wasn't complete without a fabulously pink-feathered headband - a classic choice that’s never out of style, don’t you think? I did my makeup in a gorgeous pink shimmer palette, and the final touch was a delicate pink lip, naturally!

On my travels, I always make it my mission to seek out hidden gems, and this trip was no different! I stumbled upon a local theatre hosting a stunning performance of “Swan Lake”, an iconic ballet piece I’ve adored since I was a little girl. Honestly, watching those talented ballerinas pirouette in their pristine white tutus was just...well...inspiring! It sparked an undeniable twirl in my own tutu-wearing soul! I could feel myself twirling with them in spirit, wishing I had my own dancing shoes! I made sure to document the moment by posting a selfie on Instagram – in my pink Tutu of course - and tagging the theatre and the production company. You’ve got to love good publicity!

The next day, I found myself at the Plymouth Barbican, which, I must say, reminded me of a beautiful promenade I visited in Bournemouth a couple of months ago. I think there’s something about seaside walks that makes you feel so fresh! I couldn't resist having a picture taken by the harbour, looking glamorous as ever, in my sparkling pink tutu and my most vibrant pink eyeshadow, naturally! Let me tell you, it made my heart flutter! Plus, there was a delicious bakery serving pink-tinted lemonade which I just had to try. And you know what? They were happy to have me do a live show on the corner of the street! Now everyone was excited by the prospect of wearing tutus!

Oh, and can we talk about the locals! Everyone was just so kind, and I had so many fantastic chats. There was even this wonderful old gentleman, a proper "Plymouth chap", who took me under his wing and introduced me to his lovely wife. She showed me all these beautiful old shops with amazing displays – just delightful! She also told me that my sparkling pink outfit really brought colour to the place. You can’t argue with that, now can you?

And so, with a heart full of happy memories and a wardrobe full of new pink delights, I said goodbye to Plymouth, leaving my heart just a little bit smitten with the charm of this fantastic city.

Remember, darlings, it’s never too late to start wearing pink, to let your true colours shine, to be kind to others and most importantly, to let your sparkle guide you! Until next time, darlings! Keep your heads high, your spirits bright and don't forget to twirl! ✨

Much love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles 💖
