Berlin: Tutu Tales from the City of Lights (Post #3386)

Hello darlings! Your TutuQueen is back, and this time, I’ve sashayed my way to the beautiful city of Berlin! As I’m typing this, my feet are still buzzing from the thrilling energy of this fabulous city. But let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

This journey began in Derbyshire, where I traded my lab coat for a shimmering pink tutu. That's right, darlings, I'm a scientist by day and a drag queen by night. The day job lets me play with fabrics, but the stage lets me create worlds where pink tutus rule! It all started at uni, where I joined the ballet club. I had this one assignment about the science behind the fabrics used in ballet costumes, and as a bit of a dare, they had us try on tutus! The rest is history, as they say - I'm not sure I ever got over the way I felt in that pink tutu, a shimmering vision of joy!

Anyway, back to my trip. It took a bit of juggling, with my day job and the drag act, but I managed to snag a few gigs at a funfair just outside Berlin! Imagine, my dears, performing amidst flashing lights, the aroma of candy floss, and the cheers of the crowd, all while twirling in my sparkly pink tutu. The fair folk loved it! A little pink never hurt anyone, eh?

Once I wrapped up the funfair shows, it was time to explore Berlin in full Pink Tutu Sparkles glory! This city is a kaleidoscope of colours, textures, and history, just the kind of inspiration I need to keep my creativity buzzing. I started at the Brandenburg Gate, a stunning monument with such rich history. I’ve never seen so much art in my life - every street corner seemed to offer a different masterpiece! The people here were so friendly and open, even with me prancing around in my pink tutu. Honestly, Berlin was like a blank canvas for a tutu-loving queen, and I felt it was my duty to paint it pink!

As a self-proclaimed tutu-lover, I couldn't miss a visit to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Berlin State Opera. It was truly an exquisite experience. Seeing a beautiful ballet with stunning costumes, sets, and choreography really makes my heart skip a beat! There was this one ballerina, oh my dears, her movements were like flowing water, and her tutu? A vision in white! It left me speechless, truly a work of art. I was tempted to try on a ballet tutu in their shop, but maybe next time.

My trip was more than just shows and sightseeing, you know. It’s about discovering new things and connecting with new people. I got to meet a couple of incredibly talented young designers working on a project to help homeless folks create beautiful clothing, their work was breathtaking, especially given their constraints. I told them they needed more pink in their lives, but you know me, always the cheerleader. They took it very well and promised to experiment, so maybe I’ll pop back to Berlin for another round of Pink Tutu-themed fashion therapy in a few months.

Of course, no trip to Berlin is complete without some good, old-fashioned retail therapy! I couldn't resist browsing through the boutiques and vintage shops, on the lookout for that perfect pink garment to add to my ever-growing tutu collection. I stumbled upon the most fabulous pink vintage coat, imagine a furry, fluffy delight! Imagine the possibilities!

There was this incredible vintage shop where I picked up a pair of pink heels, the ones that go click clack with every step and let the world know you’re about to sparkle! It just screams, "Get out of my way, TutuQueen's in the house!” It even has a little pink feather pom-pom on it! I might have a tiny addiction, darling, don’t judge. It's called the pink tutu sparkle lifestyle and you need to get on board!

Oh! You have to visit the Café Einstein Stammhaus, in the heart of the city. You could literally stay all day there. And if you need to treat yourself, head to the Fräulein Kim, with it's gorgeous selection of cupcakes! The pink tutu-inspired one will set you on fire, I swear. Oh, and their matcha lattes? Heavenly.

Berlin, you've stolen my heart, darling. From the pulsating nightlife to the charming canals, the city felt like one giant stage waiting to be transformed by my own personal brand of sparkle.

It was time to bid farewell to this beautiful city and begin the journey home, but I had one last trick up my sleeve, you know how I love a grand finale! I thought a horseback carriage ride across the city was the perfect ending to a grand adventure. It took me to the Reichstag Building and, darling, let me tell you, the views were to die for. You really get the chance to appreciate how truly unique and grand this city is from this viewpoint, it feels as though you can see the history and all the magic. I had to try to hold onto my pink feather boa. The wind threatened to blow it all off, but my wig held strong. I'd say it was the perfect curtain call to my pink tutu Berlin adventure.

My dears, this has been such a glorious journey, but I know one thing: I will be back to Berlin soon. You betcha, this isn’t my last tutu tale from the City of Lights! Until next time, remember: Pink is not just a colour, it's a feeling! Keep your sparkle shining bright!

With a flurry of pink,

Your TutuQueen.
