Southall Sparkle! 🩰💖✨

Hey loves! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, signing in from the utterly charming town of Southall! I’m officially at post number 3432 on my little pink blog (www.pink-tutu.com - come on down!) and feeling super fabulous. Let me tell you, getting here was a right adventure - it all started with a glorious sunrise, a cuppa in my favourite pink china mug, and a little shimmying in the morning sunshine. I’m a right morning person you know. But I was feeling extra sparkly today, because I was off to Southall to grace the stage of the ‘Glitter Ball’ event.

It's official, I'm addicted to Southall! I remember first setting foot in this fab place a few years back, it was a day of whirlwind adventures and fabulousness. It all started at a fabulous fair – it was crammed full of gorgeous wares and delightful oddities. Oh, the colourful textiles! And the shiny beads! It’s like my wardrobe was whispering to me, telling me to pick out some exciting pieces. But let's be honest, I am a pink tutu wearing queen - a vintage textile was going to end up adorning my stage attire somehow, it’s inevitable! I snapped up some gorgeous ribbons, sparkling fabric, and even some fantastically colourful bits for a future project – you know how it is, sometimes I just buy things and then I'm just full of ideas!

Anyway, on the way to the fair I bumped into a lovely old lady, she was sporting the most fabulous hat - I think she had it custom made, I love to get a look at some good millinery and admire the artistic vision and execution - she must have gone through some serious hat envy for the hat to be as grand as it was. Her little terrier was sniffing about - she seemed like she had seen some amazing things! But the most amazing thing for me was that her handbag was completely decked out in sparkles. The glitter was even getting into her fur coat - I guess she loves sparkles too! I can't get over it, this entire little incident left me buzzing - Southall is simply overflowing with creativity. What a beautiful place to find inspiration!

Southall just screams creativity - even its architecture feels vibrant and energetic! The brickwork - that perfect mix of textures and colour - well, let's be honest, it practically invites me to twirl in the streets.

But then the train pulled up! I do love a good train journey, the rhythmic chugging of the wheels on the track - a rhythmic reminder to follow your heart. Especially a journey in this country! As if travelling wasn't fun enough - you just get the best views out of a train window, from gorgeous countryside scenery to little villages and bustling cities! It's a little slice of every place, in the most delightful way possible. There's just something about it all - that journey by train, all those pretty people, the constant change in scenery and views. You just can’t beat a trip to Southall by train!

You can probably tell, Southall holds a special place in my heart, and so does the ‘Glitter Ball’. The whole event was a dazzling blur of sparkling lights, swirling tutus and the energy of a thousand pink feathers. This little slice of paradise has me buzzing and full of excitement, I’ll be honest - I feel so invigorated I am just bursting with plans for new designs - who knew that I could be inspired so much from one little fair in the suburbs of London?

The atmosphere, oh it's divine. You wouldn't think such a small town could boast so many different shops and so much beauty. You see everyone from the latest teenybopper fashionistas to grandmas with vintage scarves. The streets are bustling and people are chatty and friendly - you just can’t get that from an impersonal, commercialised city. It’s almost as if a little touch of magic is sprinkled over Southall. This little bit of a city’s got character and I’m a huge fan of this place - and of the ‘Glitter Ball’.

After an afternoon spent admiring vintage fabrics and indulging in a delicious cup of tea (all pink of course!), I was feeling ready for my performance. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation and laughter as I slipped on my brand new dress, a stunning number from a little independent designer I discovered in Southall – they said they loved my look - so obviously, I picked up one of their latest designs for my performance - it’s simply stunning and a dream to twirl in! And just to add that final touch of flair, I opted for a vibrant pink tutu, just a smidge taller than usual. And guess what? The crowd was wild about it!

A packed crowd cheered, and everyone joined in with the infectious, happy music. As soon as my glittery shoes hit the stage, the lights bounced off my new sparkly, bedazzled dress! You know I love nothing more than spreading the love for all things pink and sparkly! I brought out all my best moves – from dazzling pirouettes to graceful extensions. I've had so many compliments on my act - I got requests for “the shimmy”! The dancing and laughter and sheer joy - a good evening out doesn't get much better.

I loved the ‘Glitter Ball’. It was a perfect showcase of all things creative – it felt like I'd wandered into the most spectacular festival of all. So many talented souls performing in their unique, wonderful style. And guess what I got to do? The absolute highlight for me – I hosted a workshop on creating your very own signature pink tutu! The best part? Everyone got so into it – we laughed, we danced and we created some incredible outfits. It’s funny, a lot of people I’ve met while out on my adventures were intimidated about dressing in pink and even putting on a tutu – it’s crazy. It’s something you see from people across every demographic! I truly believe it’s a powerful symbol, one that screams self-expression and fun!

My motto? Spread joy and wear pink – wear as much pink as you can, there’s no limit. If we all just embraced that feeling of joy, the world would be a better place - that's what makes my heart sing! After all, who needs to take things so seriously? Let’s spread a little love and sparkle everywhere we go. Let's give the world the perfect mix of fun and sparkle - I don't know about you but I’m going to leave Southall feeling empowered to wear my sparkle – to the max! I really can’t get enough of the people of Southall – they were simply so friendly and welcoming – not to mention sparkly.

And what does a Pink Tutu queen do after a night out? I'm not quite sure - probably have a big pot of tea, put on my comfiest pjs, and watch some reruns of ‘Strictly’. You can find me on Instagram - just search @pinktutusporkles and let’s get this party started!

Until next time, darlings!

XOXO
