Kensington: Tutu Time!

Post Number 3452

Hello my lovely Tutu Queens! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad, fabulous, fashion-forward drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here!

I’m writing to you from Kensington, the heart of London's chicest shopping district. This city never fails to inspire, and what better way to celebrate than in a swirling, sparkling, and oh-so-pink tutu?

This is a very special post for me because today, my lovelies, we’re talking about tutus and trains! That's right, two of my very favourite things combined! A long, luxurious train journey across the English countryside - a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of London!

I had been feeling a little jaded from performing last night at the Eastbourne Fair (which, by the way, was fantastic! You should always book an act as fun as myself at your local fair!), and so a leisurely train journey was the perfect remedy. The journey from Eastbourne to London was so scenic, the fields a blaze of wildflowers, and the skies a cerulean blue.

But I must confess, this little journey had another reason for being quite special…

It involved a delightful little secret... You see, I recently spotted a fabulously flamboyant pink tutu at the gorgeous "Alice’s Adventures" vintage clothing shop in Tunbridge Wells. A tutu, my dear dears, with more sequins and sparkle than I’ve ever seen! And guess what? I had to have it! Cue a glorious gasp and a shimmering spotlight shining upon the beautiful creation.

Of course, there was absolutely no way I could let such a spectacularly pink ensemble journey with me on a public train without a proper outfit!

So I put on my absolute finest, the new vintage tutu of course, paired it with my new powder pink sparkly platform boots and an adorable little fitted hot pink bolero, adding just the right amount of cheeky fun to my already dazzling ensemble. Topped off with my favourite oversized vintage sunglasses, of course! I always want to stand out from the crowd in style!

The train, thankfully, was a delightful mix of business folks, holidaymakers and curious children - the perfect audience for Pink Tutu Sparkles! People just kept looking at me in utter amazement as I took my seat, and frankly, I was just as enthralled by their faces as they were by mine. What a beautiful feeling it is, to spread a little sparkle and joy into the world. I think even the old man in a tweed suit and flat cap opposite me had a little glimmer in his eye.

We arrived in London, me a delightful, bedazzling pink beacon in the crowd of tired commuters, just in time to check into my lovely Kensington hotel. Now, this is one place I could happily spend weeks in! Just outside my room, on Kensington Gardens, I took in the view: rows of pristine white lilies, the warm sunlight shimmering on the trees, and children laughing while chasing after their bright pink balloons.

It’s an undeniable truth, I find such immense happiness when I’m travelling - it's where my creative juices start flowing. So when you combine the beautiful London sights with my insatiable desire for a perfectly fabulous pink tutu - the results are absolutely glorious! And for my first London afternoon adventure, naturally, I headed for a bit of ballet, at The Royal Ballet, of course.

Let's face it, who doesn't adore the sheer beauty and artistry of ballet? It’s a real treat, a whirlwind of emotions and colours, all wrapped up in graceful movement and stunning costumes - just like my own wardrobe!

Watching the dancers glide across the stage in their exquisite costumes felt like I had been transported into a dream world - it really did remind me of the grace and fluidity of a perfectly swirled tutu! It also had me longing for the beautiful freedom of dance… perhaps even a trip to one of London's famed ballet schools. Oh the tutus, my dear! Daydreams in vivid technicolour!

Of course, there was nothing for me to do but head off for some shopping - the best way to end an amazing day. I could practically feel the excitement in the air as I strolled along the Kensington High Street! And the day turned simply perfect as I stepped into "Fashion in Bloom", one of my all-time favourite boutiques, and found… well… I couldn't possibly say, can I? It’s a surprise that's worth keeping! (Hint: It's the most breathtaking and pink-est garment I’ve ever seen!).

London was buzzing around me: tourists rushing, pigeons fluttering, buskers serenading, shops enticing, it was all so wonderfully chaotic and brimming with life! It's like being a character straight out of a glamorous storybook.

Of course, I can't just sit in London, I had to put on my favourite vintage beret and head out and experience all that the city has to offer! There were some fabulous photo-ops at Buckingham Palace, followed by a fun picnic on the Kensington Gardens lawn - complete with the most amazing views of the Albert Memorial.

As I drifted off to sleep that night, my mind still fizzed with the day's events and my heart hummed with contentment. I could tell already this trip would stay with me for a very long time!

Today was one of those days where the world just felt perfectly right! London, ballet, and the pure, unadulterated bliss of a beautiful pink tutu. What else could a drag queen possibly ask for?

This has been Pink Tutu Sparkles! And remember my dear, Tutu Queens - if you feel a twirl coming on, let it rip!. And never be afraid to make a grand entrance in a shimmering, pink tutu. It’s an affirmation, a joyful rebellion against the mundane, a beautiful statement that you can make, without saying a word. Go out there, live, laugh, dance, and twirl in style.

Stay fabulous!

Until next time,

Pink Tutu Sparkles.
