I mean, imagine a bustling market square, full of friendly faces and delicious smells, all surrounded by quaint little shops just begging to be explored… then you've got the essence of Welling!
This journey to Welling was a bit of a departure from my usual travels. Instead of gliding through the countryside on the back of my trusty steed, Mr. Buttercup the horse, I decided to embrace the joys of train travel this time. And you know what? It was divine! Imagine being able to gaze at the ever-changing landscapes, sipping on a lovely cup of Earl Grey, all while putting the finishing touches on my make-up! Truly the perfect way to begin my Welling adventure!
Now, let's talk fashion, shall we? Welling was practically screaming for a touch of pink tutu magic! I knew right away I had to choose a particularly show-stopping tutu for this occasion. This one, my darlings, is a true masterpiece. It's a cascading dream of layers upon layers of the most glorious, vibrant pink tulle you've ever seen, all hand-crafted and sparkling like a thousand tiny rainbows. Paired with a crystal-encrusted bodice and a feather boa as soft as a cloud, I was practically radiating joy and femininity!
The highlight of my Welling visit, though? Definitely the Ballet Ball! I managed to get myself invited to this dazzling event, and oh my goodness, you just can't imagine the sheer amount of twirling that took place! Imagine a ballroom filled with the most stunning ballet dancers in all their glory, effortlessly gliding across the polished floor with an elegance that's almost surreal! The entire room shimmered with colour, and I felt utterly at home amongst this fabulous display of talent and passion. Of course, I couldn’t resist showing off my own ballet skills – a quick twirl here, a pirouette there! And everyone in the room, even the serious-looking judges, seemed delighted!
Now, I’m no stranger to performing at various fairs and festivals, but the Welling market was something else! As I sashayed my way through the crowd in my tutu, my sequins twinkling with every step, people couldn't help but stop and admire. And oh, the laughter and the joy! Kids squealing with delight at the sight of me, their parents grinning from ear to ear - it was truly heart-warming. A little girl, bless her heart, even handed me a pink balloon! It was a lovely, heartwarming moment that reminded me of why I love my tutu-tastic journey. It's about spreading happiness, promoting self-expression, and bringing a touch of pink magic to everyone's lives!
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all twirls and glitter. While my drag persona might be full of joy and sunshine, Alex, the real me, was hard at work as well. I mean, you wouldn’t think that testing fabrics would go hand-in-hand with being a drag queen, would you? Well, I can assure you, it does! My knowledge of textiles and colour theory allows me to select the most exquisite materials for my tutus. It’s all part of the magical journey! But honestly, how amazing is it to go from analysing fabric in the lab to dancing on stage in a breathtaking tutu? Talk about a transformation!
Now, as I wrap up my Welling adventure, my heart feels as full as my wardrobe. There's truly something magical about discovering new places, meeting wonderful people, and spreading joy with every step I take. Oh, and you know what? It seems my mission to encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu is slowly, but surely, working! I spotted at least ten adorable kids in pink tutus while I was out and about in Welling! This is what it's all about!
