Dunstable Delights! 🩰✨ (Post #3525)

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! Today, I'm bursting with excitement because I'm off on another grand adventure, this time to the charming town of Dunstable!

Remember my last blog post? Where I mused about the thrill of train travel? Well, that's how I'm getting to Dunstable! I absolutely adore the gentle rocking of the carriage and the breathtaking scenery that flashes by. Honestly, it's like being in a scene straight out of a classic film! It’s so relaxing for the journey. For this journey, however, I wasn't travelling alone! A dear friend and fellow performer, the wonderfully glamorous Miss Glittery Rainbow, was my travel companion. We had a right laugh together. The girls love a good sing song, and when they start, we let loose with our best musical impressions! Let's just say the train staff got a right earful of showtunes on this journey!

Speaking of travelling in style, of course, I was dressed to impress! I mean, can you imagine me showing up in Dunstable without a perfectly pink outfit? Absolutely not! My bespoke pink tutu, with layers of tulle as fluffy as cotton candy, and sparkling with rhinestones, shimmered like a disco ball. It even has little pink bows sewn onto it!

Of course, my pink outfit wouldn't be complete without a touch of that oh-so-classic pink, the perfect pair of pink, platform boots!

I felt fabulous!

You know, darling, as much as I adore travelling in style by train, I secretly dream of venturing about by horse. It’s so chic! There's just something incredibly romantic about galloping through fields on a noble steed. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve thought about learning to ride, but let’s be honest, my life is just too busy with gigs, photoshoots, and finding the perfect pink tutu! Maybe one day...

Anyway, enough about the journey! Let’s dive into what actually went on in Dunstable.

This lovely town has been on my 'to perform' list for a while now, and I've finally arrived! I'm always eager to discover new places and meet new people. After all, one of the best things about being a drag queen is the amazing sense of community. The moment I arrived in Dunstable, it felt welcoming and cosy. People were lovely! The place has a distinct charm all of its own. I was already in love with the place.

Now, I'm no stranger to the stage, having performed at countless venues, fairs and festivals all over the UK. From the bustling markets of Nottingham to the quiet pubs of rural Devon, I've danced and glittered my way across the country.

And let me tell you, the Dunstable crowd was a delightful treat. The local venue, a beautifully restored 19th-century theatre, provided a perfect stage to showcase my talents. My show started with a few show tunes, as requested by my friend who got me this gig, and then into a routine that really showcases my pink tutu, ending up with my biggest number - the ‘Pink Tutu Dance’. It really was so magical!

As you know, I’m always on the lookout for inspiration for my drag. I love going to the theatre to see classic ballet performances; nothing quite beats the beauty of dance, I have so many outfits I’ve designed for myself inspired by classic ballet moves!

Now, I know I might sound like a bit of a fashion obsessed dreamer, but honestly, don't you feel your best when you're dressed up? When you step into your outfit, and everything just clicks. That's what drag does for me. It's about expressing yourself, being fabulous, and having fun. You're not limited by what's expected; you get to create something unique, magical and oh-so-fabulous! And trust me, it feels good to inspire a few smiles and maybe even encourage people to get their inner sparkles out, whether it’s by just throwing on a little something that makes them feel good, or even just going for a little extra, anything to feel fabulous and confident in your own skin.

The show went off with a bang, darling! The crowd cheered for each of my twirls and pirouettes, and they absolutely loved the ‘Pink Tutu Dance’! Afterwards, the stage was buzzing with compliments, laughter, and maybe a little champagne - don’t worry I got permission to serve the drinks, as a guest star, I didn’t just take over the venue, my manners are perfect, it was all in the contract. It's a beautiful feeling, you know, to bring joy and laughter to others. This, my dear friends, is why I love being Pink Tutu Sparkles!

After the performance, my fellow performer Miss Glittery Rainbow and I popped next door to one of the most enchanting tea rooms I’ve ever seen. The cakes! My dear darlings, if you ever visit Dunstable, make sure you visit this delightful little spot. It's full of charm and the most delicious homemade cakes imaginable! They’re a little indulgent, which is exactly what we deserved after all that dancing!

The owner was the most charming and friendly chap! He’s a keen fan of theatre himself and he asked about the show! He even showed me a fantastic shop full of gorgeous little shops which he thought I might find interesting for costume design - how delightful!

Before leaving Dunstable, we visited the famous Dunstable Downs, a perfect little spot to take in some breathtaking views. It really felt like a glimpse of another world, especially as I posed on a little rock to take a selfie! Oh, the lighting was perfect for some glamorous shots! Now, let’s be real here, you didn’t think I’d miss out on the opportunity to wear my pink tutu and platform boots with that view, did you? Of course, it had to happen, what else would a proper queen do!

You'll have to check out my socials for those lovely snaps!

Sadly, the time flew by as usual, but I’ll be returning, because it really was that fabulous, don’t you think? As the train took us away from Dunstable, I couldn't help but think of how this little town had already found its way into my heart. The people, the charm, the stunning scenery - everything came together perfectly!

Oh, darling, my mind is overflowing with new ideas for my pink tutu and the next Pink Tutu Dance routine! It won’t be a chore at all - I simply love my job! And who knows? Maybe someday soon, we'll meet up again in the amazing town of Dunstable!

Remember, darlings, always remember that life's too short to be anything but fabulous! So, go on, put on that pink tutu, put a little glitter on, and embrace the dazzling spirit within!

Till next time, darling! Stay fabulous and always wear a pink tutu!
