Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another dazzling update from my adventures around the globe! I'm in a truly pink-tastic mood today as I just landed in Plymouth, the bustling port city in the beautiful county of Devon.
Plymouth is steeped in history – from its famous Naval Dockyard to its iconic Barbican, it's a place where stories whisper on the breeze. Of course, I'm not one to be weighed down by the past - I'm all about celebrating the now! So, it was with much glee and a sprinkle of glitter that I set foot on the cobblestones of Plymouth, ready to soak in all its charm and fabulousness!
But before we get into the details of this exciting trip, let me tell you how I got here. As you all know, I love nothing more than to travel! Now, my dear followers, this is a travel-style queen's motto: I travel by the most glamorous and stylish ways available. Of course, the best way to travel in the UK, for this Pink Tutu queen, is by train!
With my pink suitcase gleaming like a ruby jewel, I boarded the high-speed train from Derbyshire. Oh, the thrill of speeding across the countryside, the rolling hills passing by in a blur of green and brown! But truly, the best part is the observatory carriage at the front of the train! The sun setting over the countryside as we cruised along - utterly spectacular!
With a few swift changes in the loo of the carriage (my magic makeup mirror and travel brush set is my secret weapon), I was all dolled up in my pink and glittery travel outfit for arriving in Plymouth! It was the perfect blend of comfortable for travelling but also glamorous. I must say, the other passengers on the train certainly noticed this queen's presence, with plenty of envious stares coming my way!
Once in Plymouth, the next order of business was tea, darlings, tea! We simply cannot visit this charming seaside town without sampling some delectable afternoon tea, and oh my, did they not disappoint! We're talking dainty sandwiches with crustless cucumber and cream cheese, fluffy scones with clotted cream and jam, and a delicate selection of miniature cakes, all accompanied by piping hot, perfectly brewed tea. The ambiance? Simply divine, with intricate china teacups and a lovely view overlooking the bustling waterfront. I couldn't resist purchasing a souvenir teapot and teacup to remind myself of this delightful afternoon.
Now, the reason I am in Plymouth - for my glamorous show! I'm absolutely delighted to have been invited to perform at the Plymouth Theatre Royal! This historic venue is a true gem, boasting beautiful architecture and an intimate atmosphere. My stage tonight was simply magnificent, shimmering under the warm glow of the spotlights. The crowd was amazing, and you could feel their excitement bubbling over as they anticipated the spectacle that is Pink Tutu Sparkles! The show itself was an explosion of energy, laughter, and colour, as I poured my heart out through my dance routines, songs, and playful interactions with the audience. Each member of the audience was treated to a fabulous show, complete with feather boas, glamorous wigs, and a whole lot of glitter!
After the show, I met up with my delightful fellow drag artists - Lola La Rouge and Violet Velvet - at the "Pink Flamingo" cocktail bar on the waterfront, the city's most famous venue. This place had the most decadent cocktails, and the live music was superb! A fantastically fun night filled with laughter and camaraderie!
The next day, of course, my travels continued as I journeyed by horse, because my queen's style is to embrace every mode of travel! Riding through the glorious Devonshire countryside, a true romantic interlude! It was simply breath-taking, watching the rolling hills turn golden in the afternoon sunlight! And the horses - well, they were all beautifully groomed, and oh, so elegant. They galloped through the fields, feeling like a real-life fairy tale, just like in those classic ballet stories I love! I might even try to sneak in a ballet class on my travels. I heard Plymouth has a great ballet school...
I’ve learned a lot from these travels so far. It’s never too late to try new things. There’s beauty to be found in all forms of art. And… Pink is simply divine. Oh, I almost forgot - this is Plymouth, so of course, there's got to be some mention of fish and chips! The quintessential British experience! And Plymouth absolutely did not disappoint! I sampled the most amazing fish and chips at a little traditional fishmonger’s shop right by the harbour! Fresh, crisp, and delicious, I tell you! The only thing better than a delicious meal is to share it with fellow queen and friends!
Speaking of fellow queens, I got a surprise visitor! A delightful young queen who actually contacted me via the pink-tutu.com website! We ended up spending hours over a lovely cup of tea and scones chatting about our drag careers! What a sweet, lovely young thing she was. Such a ray of sunshine and, guess what? I even convinced her to embrace a little bit of Pink Tutu Sparkles! She bought herself a pink tutu! I mean, who can resist the siren call of a fabulous pink tutu?!
My trip to Plymouth has been an absolute dream come true! Plymouth, you’ve completely won my heart with your beauty, your rich history, and the vibrant, fun spirit that flows through its cobblestone streets. I am absolutely enchanted by the warmth and hospitality of your residents. They are so open and welcoming, even to a flamboyantly dressed queen like myself.
I bid adieu to this lovely seaside town, and its charming residents with a promise to return someday, darlings, someday!
