Today, we're waltzing into the enchanting town of Hornchurch, Essex, a true gem of a place where I had the absolute pleasure of gracing the stage with my pink tutu and sparkling presence!
My travels always bring me joy, and this time I hopped on a beautiful train from Derbyshire (where, by day, I live my quiet lab life as Alex, testing the strength of fabrics, yes, the life of a scientist!) to Hornchurch, arriving at the quaintest little station you ever did see. I have to say, the smell of sea air was intoxicating, promising a truly wonderful evening.
You see, darling, this trip was all about embracing the magic of performance. My fabulousness doesn’t just exist within the confines of a glittery lab coat. When I hit the stage, well, let's just say it’s performance art with a capital ‘P’!
Now, let me tell you, Hornchurch treated me like royalty. I met the most wonderful group of people who shared my love of all things pink and sparkly. From the local bakers to the florist with their delicate flower arrangements (imagine the shades of pink, oh my!), the entire town seemed to have conspired to make my time a dream!
I spent the afternoon wandering through the quaint streets, and what do you think I found, honey? Why, a whole shop dedicated to tutus, obviously! Every shade imaginable, from candy pink to bubblegum pink to flamingo pink, my heart skipped a beat! And let me tell you, my dear, I walked out with not just one, but two gorgeous tutus, which, just between you and me, will make a glamorous appearance in my next performance! 😉
The highlight of the day was the visit to the ballet studio, just a little dance gem nestled within Hornchurch’s heart. Oh, the sheer joy of slipping on a tutu, the music, the elegance! My inner ballerina twirled and leaped with happiness. I took a class (you’ve got to be kidding me, the stretches!) and realised my days of performing ballet were far from over, darling! Even the teacher said I was a natural - you see, it’s a good thing that my daily lab work gives me such an amazing amount of physical strength, haha!
Now, on to the evening! The performance at Hornchurch was incredible! The stage lights glistened like diamonds, and I felt truly blessed to share my pink tutu love with such a welcoming audience. The people there, they cheered and they roared, and you could feel the sheer joy of celebrating a truly joyful performance, it was truly divine. I shared the stage with some truly brilliant drag queens - I'm telling you, honey, I felt the drag magic flowing! And I must mention that I used my Pink Tutu Sparkles magic touch for an entire dance sequence – the tutus flowed, the pink sparkles filled the air, and, well, you just have to believe me when I tell you it was breathtaking.
The day after, after breakfasting with a few of the friendly locals (a touch of sweetness is never wrong), I headed to the nearby train station and said my fond farewells to beautiful Hornchurch. It’s always hard to leave a place that holds so much magic.
My journey home on the train, a very grand Victorian one that, let’s be honest, had that ‘fairy tale’ feel, was equally exciting, allowing me to dream up future adventures for my ‘Pink Tutu Sparkles’ adventures. The inspiration for my next outfit? Absolutely bursting! I met the most talented hat maker on the train. It was amazing how they created beautiful pieces that had the sheer pinkness I’ve become known for… and an amazing sense of 'steampunk' (is that the word? ), making hats from what seemed like metal, fabric, and maybe even gears. I mean, what an absolute dream combo for a Pink Tutu Sparkles design!
But one thing’s for sure, Hornchurch: you’ve inspired me, filled me with a sense of love, laughter, and, most importantly, pure and utter pink-tutu-sparkling joy!
