Today, we're off on a delightful adventure to Beckenham, a charming town in Kent. Now, I've gotta admit, my love affair with the south-east of England goes back to my university days - where else would a girl who adores tutus and pink have found herself? Oh, those were the days! It was while I was studying for my Science degree (yes, believe it or not, your favourite pink tutu-clad performer is also a certified lab rat!) that I first tried on a tutu. A charity event, they called it, raising funds for something boring, I'm sure. But me? I was hooked from the moment that tulle tickled my legs. And thus, my drag career, Pink Tutu Sparkles, was born!
So, you see, it's no wonder that I'm extra thrilled to be in Beckenham! After all, it's a town bursting with history, art, and even the most beautiful manor house I've ever seen. Plus, you simply must visit the Beckenham Place Park! I mean, imagine a sprawling park with a gorgeous Grade II listed manor house - it's like stepping out of a fairytale. It's got a grand feel to it, a touch of regency. But, you can bet your bottom dollar, I'll be finding a pink tutu to match the grandeur of this beautiful place. (Just imagine the photoshoot opportunity!)
Getting here, though? Well, my friends, this Pink Tutu Sparkles needed a break from the car! The countryside calls, and so I embarked on a most glorious journey by train. Ah, nothing beats the gentle rocking of the train carriage, watching the English landscape roll by. All this to prepare myself for a week of spectacular events in Beckenham, from exciting theatre productions to local ballet classes. You know me, darlings! The thrill of the dance, the joy of expression...
Speaking of ballet, did I tell you about the delightful ballet class I took just this morning? Oh my, the teacher was a strict but lovely lady. Just what I need to keep my dancing legs in shape! You see, my dear blog followers, being Pink Tutu Sparkles is more than just fabulous clothes and sparkling make-up - it’s about a constant commitment to art, expression, and, yes, rigorous dance practice!
The next day I was off to a quaint local fair. Oh, darling, it was a dream come true! So much charm and character, the aroma of candy floss in the air… but what I found most delightful were the vintage clothes stalls! I mean, think of the fabulous pink tutu potential! A perfect opportunity to unearth a unique gem that would make Pink Tutu Sparkles stand out! Oh, you just wouldn't believe the incredible hat I discovered, a magnificent creation covered in blush-pink velvet roses. Now, that's a Pink Tutu Sparkles signature if I've ever seen one!
But don't think this Beckenham adventure has been all glamour and sparkle, dear readers. No, there are moments where my "day job" as a scientist calls for my attention. Imagine me, a scientist by day, studying fabric composition, and then at night, I become Pink Tutu Sparkles! Quite a transformation, eh? But hey, I'm a girl of many talents. Who needs a boring nine-to-five when you can design outfits, dance, and make the world a more sparkling place, all with a pink tutu as your inspiration?
This afternoon I treated myself to the most delightful afternoon tea, darling! And you can't talk about afternoon tea without mentioning a very special occasion. This Beckenham adventure coincides with the most perfect spring time for a very special celebration: the Coronation of King Charles. Now, my dear followers, Pink Tutu Sparkles couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate a new reign than by sharing the joy with all of you! I'm already scheming how to put together a sparkly outfit worthy of such an occasion! Maybe a crown, yes!
Oh, but now I've simply got to dash, as I've got a rehearsal for tonight’s performance at the Beckenham Arts Centre! You can bet your bottom dollar, I'll be performing my heart out for all the lovely people of Beckenham! My drag family will be with me, and we’ll be sharing the magic of our routines - from contemporary dance numbers to cheeky sing-alongs, there's a something for everyone!
