Catford Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles' Adventure in the South East (Post #3769)

Darlings, gather round! Today’s post is a bit of a whirlwind, straight from my glittery heart to your precious screens!

As you know, your Queen loves a good travel adventure. This past week saw me shimmying my way south, swapping my Derbyshire hills for the concrete jungle of London! Now, I've gotta admit, Catford wasn't exactly at the top of my "must-visit" list... but this drag queen is always up for a good adventure, and a call for a show in this exciting South-East borough was just the ticket.

I left my trusty steed (who, for the record, has been meticulously polished with a coat of pink shoe polish, darling, just like a proper diva!), and headed to the station in my best pink tweed ensemble. There's just something about the rhythmic click-clack of a train ride that gets my creative juices flowing!

Arriving in Catford, I was greeted with a wave of… well, London! Hustle and bustle, honking taxis, and of course, an array of characters I wouldn't see back home. But it's a charming chaos, a certain joie de vivre that makes this city such a thrill.

My accommodation, bless its dusty old soul, was a quaint little B&B tucked away in a back street. I can't deny I was tempted to give the whole place a makeover – think frilly pink bedspreads and feather boas galore! – but ultimately, it served its purpose, and my "before show" beauty routine got underway.

Before the show, I ventured out to explore this unknown corner of London. It was a perfect mix of trendy vintage shops and traditional pubs, all adding to Catford's eclectic charm. My heart truly sang, darlings, when I stumbled upon a hidden gem – a quaint little boutique overflowing with lace, ribbons, and oh-so-many shades of pink! My shopping cart was a rainbow of joy, filled with dazzling sequins, silk flowers for my next show look, and enough lace to adorn a small army of fairy ballerinas.

As evening descended, it was showtime! The venue was a cozy little pub that truly embraced the energy of my Pink Tutu Sparkles show. It felt like the entire room was pulsating with anticipation – everyone ready to witness a sprinkle of sparkle and a healthy dose of tulle!

I confess, the energy in the room was electrifying. It was the kind of audience that just gets it. The kind of crowd who scream along to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", who genuinely appreciates the elegance of a perfectly pirouetted pose, and who wouldn't dream of sitting on their hands during my "The Nutcracker" ballet performance! You're gonna have to take my word for it, it was phenomenal, darlings. I could see my fellow drag queen sisters and brothers out there, nodding their heads and throwing out the fiercest of looks.

After my act, there was this wave of affection from the crowd that made my heart swell. Every single soul there wanted a selfie, a hug, a whisper about how much they loved my performance. It really solidified what I always tell myself – you never know where a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance might be needed to inject a little magic into someone’s day.

Catford, you really surprised me! Who knew this humble borough held so much charm and vibrant life? I’m definitely coming back for another visit, even if I need to trade my steed in for a sturdy bicycle this time (but of course, still pink!)

And now, a little secret about my fabulous pink tutu ensemble… my fellow sparkle enthusiast and dear friend, Emily (who works in the fashion industry) found a delightful piece of vintage pink satin ribbon to adorn my latest design! Let's just say that it adds an air of Parisian chic, darling! We’re definitely talking serious tulle-worthy material here!

Stay tuned for more adventures, dearest blog followers! This queen is never afraid to take a trip, especially when there's a chance to share some joy, a sprinkle of sparkle, and maybe, just maybe, inspire someone to wear a pink tutu themselves. Until next time, stay fabulous and keep shining!

Much love and glitter,

Pink Tutu Sparkles! (Alex)

XOXO
