Oxford, oh Oxford! - Post #3900

Helloooo darlings! It's your Pink Tutu Sparkles, bringing you another dazzling blog post straight from the cobbled streets of Oxford! I'm positively positively sparkling with excitement as I finally tick another incredible city off my travel list - and guess what, loves? This week, I even got to hop on a train in a full pink tutu! Glitz and glam on the go - that's what I call travelling in style!

Remember that fabulous fundraising ballet class last week at the Derbyshire ballet school? Well, let's just say, a few of us got rather carried away in the spirit of charity. Cue a full tutu outfit for yours truly and the most divine pink feather boa I've ever seen! That little boa, I'm telling you, became a right showstopper. People were stopping me in the street for selfies - well, you know how it is, darlings! When you've got pink feathers dancing in the breeze, it's like a siren's call. 😉

The good news is, my tutu stayed on through the train journey - imagine, the glamour of a full tutu on the 9.30 am train from Sheffield! A pinch me moment, if I ever saw one. But listen, I managed to get away with it. Now, let's get one thing straight, loves - a full tutu and train travel, is tricky, especially when you have all the baggage of a travelling drag queen. That, of course, includes the hairspray and sparkly eye shadow, not forgetting my signature pink lipstick and the whole box of colourful fake eyelashes. Let's just say I looked divine and even attracted the attention of some rather well-dressed chaps in tweed suits. Imagine the glamour, loves!

And then, I arrived in Oxford! Oxford, my darlings, is positively exquisite. Imagine cobbled streets, grand old buildings, a beautiful river with a little bridge - everything was straight out of a classic fairy tale. As soon as I stepped off the train, I just knew this city was going to be a dream come true for my sparkly little heart.

And dream come true it most definitely was! You see, I had two reasons for coming to Oxford. First, my sweet little friend Charlotte, a talented ballet dancer, was performing in a ballet gala in the local theatre - oh, it was utterly breathtaking. Imagine, graceful ballerinas twirling and leaping, with the lights of the theatre glittering over the entire stage, it was utterly magical! I know, I know, my tutu wasn't quite as practical in that theatre as it is in my everyday life. It would have definitely been a bit too much of a spectacle!

My other reason? Oxford is just positively bursting with history and culture. It's like a big book come to life! After Charlotte's performance, I had time to walk through the university and soak in the ambiance. It truly was an absolute heaven for my tutu-clad wanderings, my dears! Now, picture this - pink tutu on, sun gleaming down, and me just waltzing along those picturesque lanes and alleys, with a few friendly nods from local residents - utter joy, that's what it was!

For someone like me, who absolutely adores a little touch of glam in my life, Oxford really had everything I could possibly desire. I even saw a couple of lovely ladies admiring my outfit with big smiles, giving me a cheery "You go, girl!" Those kind words are what keeps this Pink Tutu Sparkles going, loves. And yes, you guessed it, my favourite thing? A charming tea room in a lovely garden courtyard. Picture, tiny delicate cakes and freshly brewed tea...I know, it was just too much for this girl! The whole experience reminded me that there’s real magic to be found in the little things, the ordinary made extraordinary.

Before heading back to my beloved Derbyshire, I popped into one of the famous book shops, oh darling, so much beautiful vintage and rare books! It just felt like the perfect spot to sit and dream up my next dazzling outfit. I’m even thinking of creating a special ‘bookish’ collection with a few well-placed, delicately beaded, library-inspired accessories. Just imagine, a glamorous pink tutu and a beautifully embroidered Jane Austen-style feather boa. You know what I'm saying, loves, absolute magic!

But back to reality, it was time to return to Derbyshire and my busy schedule. I mean, being a scientist by day and a sparkling pink tutu queen by night is not exactly the easiest gig! However, as soon as I put on that pink tutu, every lab test and scientific research felt a little more fun, a little more glamorous.

This girl needs her glitz! As I often say to my sweet lab mates, “Science is just a test tube away from fabulousness.” 😉 My point, darlings? Never be afraid to add a little sprinkle of pink magic to your life. Remember, it’s not just a tutu, it’s a feeling, an energy.

And remember, don’t ever let anyone tell you can’t sparkle!

Your always fabulous,

Pink Tutu Sparkles x
