Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the beautiful, historic town of Colchester! I've just stepped off the train (I adore travelling by train, the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels on the track just puts me in the mood for a fabulous adventure) and I'm feeling positively radiant in my brand new pink tutu! Now, before I go on about the excitement of my trip (which is truly HUGE, just wait until you hear!), let me tell you a little bit about this gorgeous town. Colchester has been on my "must-visit" list for ages! Not only is it the oldest recorded town in Britain (fact!) and boasts a magnificent Roman history, but it also has an absolutely charming theatre scene - something a real drama queen like myself just cannot resist!
So, what brought me here, you ask? Well, my darlings, my beloved Pink Tutu Sparkles couldn't possibly miss out on a fabulous ballet performance at the Mercury Theatre. I am, of course, an avid ballet aficionado (just ask my little dog, Pip, he's a total ballet fan too!) - it's always a delightful evening of grace and beauty, perfect for putting a twinkle in my eye and a bounce in my step! But of course, a night at the theatre isn't complete without a pre-show ritual, which in my case involves:
A pit stop at a charming little tea shop called "The Pink Flamingo," just around the corner from the theatre. A hot pot of Earl Grey and a slice of Victoria sponge is just the ticket to calm the pre-show jitters!
A good old-fashioned girly gossip session with my dearest friend, Lucy. We always have a laugh reminiscing about our childhood ballet days, comparing notes on the latest designer tutus, and planning our next "Pink Tutu" themed dress-up party. Lucy's the one who convinced me to finally make a splash with Pink Tutu Sparkles in the first place - bless her soul!
And, of course, the final touch – my signature "Pink Tutu Sparkles" touch-up routine: a light dusting of shimmer powder over my face (a bit of magic never hurts!), a swish of sparkly pink mascara (essential!), and a generous dollop of ruby-red lipstick, for a touch of drama!
But let's not forget the true reason I came here, the real gem in this Colchester experience: my dazzling performance at the Colchester Market! It was absolutely electrifying! You see, my dears, it's not all glamorous ballet shows and theatre visits, you know! The life of a Pink Tutu Sparkles-ing drag queen can sometimes take me to some pretty unexpected places - a lively marketplace is definitely one of them. It was a blast! I performed in my most vibrant, iridescent tutu - imagine a kaleidoscope explosion, but in a tutu! I shimmied and twirled, spreading my message of joy and acceptance with every pirouette and twinkle in my eye!
Speaking of tutus, you might be wondering how Pink Tutu Sparkles came to be. It all started back when I was a fresh-faced, wide-eyed science student. My science degree wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it did bring me something very special - the chance to try on a tutu! It was all for a charity event, you see, but one look in the mirror and something just clicked - bam, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born! It was my first foray into the wonderful world of drag, and I knew that this, this magical moment, was where my heart truly belonged. By day, Alex, the fabric-testing scientist, worked away in her lab; and by night, the fabulous, sparkling Pink Tutu Sparkles emerged. And that's when the real fun began!
My dear readers, I have to confess that my heart absolutely flutters whenever I step into a dazzling pink tutu. The fabric feels so silky and delicate, the flow as I twirl and the little dance steps... they make me feel like a genuine fairytale princess, ready to spread some magic around the world!
My journey as Pink Tutu Sparkles has taken me across countless towns and cities, each with its own unique charm. But Colchester will hold a special place in my heart. From the welcoming smiles of the locals to the beautiful energy of the market, and of course, that enchanting ballet performance... this trip was all I hoped for and more.
