Oh darlings, you wouldn’t believe the adventure Pink Tutu Sparkles is having in the gloriously gritty town of Slough! I’ve just had the most divine time performing for a lovely crowd at the ‘Festive Fun Fair’ on the green and, honestly, the energy here is just magical! ✨ I love these local fairs, where the smell of popcorn and candy floss hangs in the air like a sweet dream. Plus, you know I simply had to have a go on the Ferris wheel for a glorious view of this little corner of Berkshire!
Before I share my fabulous Slough shenanigans with you lovelies, I just want to thank the good people at the ‘Slough Express’, who transported me here by train – so civilised, you know? The tutus definitely attracted a few stares on the journey. Of course, I was a bit apprehensive to start with. I had a tiny pang of fear about carrying my tutu luggage, especially in the face of a rather stern gentleman, seated opposite me in my compartment, sporting a grim expression! You just know some folks have their preconceptions about sparkly, fabulous queens like myself.
But guess what, darling? I turned that frown upside down, of course! Half way through my journey, he couldn't resist asking about my work as a drag artist! After explaining my little Pink Tutu dream of inspiring everyone to put on their pink tutu, his grumpy face just melted, and I got to chat about my upcoming performance at the fair. Oh, he was enthralled. It turns out he actually used to go to ballet shows in his youth and, well, after I shared my little drag story, he left my compartment positively radiant and humming a jaunty tune, I swear! My mission is to spread joy wherever I go, and that includes transforming frowns into sunshine, darling! 💖✨
I have to tell you, I arrived at the ‘Festive Fun Fair’ to an amazing sight. The fairground was overflowing with the sounds of laughter, joyous squeals, and the tinkling tunes of carousel music. Oh, and I absolutely adore how this fairground is just the perfect size! It has this delightfully intimate feeling to it, which just makes it more personal for the attendees!
As always, I strutted into the centre of the stage, my tulle clouds shimmering under the lights, and let my heart sing. My set was pure magic, from my shimmering pink sequins and tulle to my shimmering, feather boas and, of course, the sparkling pink tutu which, for the occasion, I matched to a beautiful pastel pink sequined halter top, that clung just so!
The crowd loved it! Their energy was amazing. I really connected with them and was totally swept away by the laughter and applause. It just made me feel so happy!
During my set, I made it a point to incorporate a couple of little surprise tricks, that really made them go wild. Firstly, I took to the stage a stunning vintage pink flamingo pin. This flamingo was actually a heirloom passed down from my dear, loving auntie! You know, she’s been a dear supporter of my dreams from the get go! This piece has become a true family treasure and I think it’s fabulous that it gets to travel with me on these extraordinary adventures!
And secondly, I'm all about surprises! And after a rousing performance, I unleashed a handful of sparkly pink confetti onto the stage. The audience’s cheers echoed through the whole fair! That moment of joy and surprise is just pure magic and a moment that I always cherish, darling. It's the moment that makes all those long nights of rehearsals, all the crafting, and the tireless travelling all worth it!
Now, I can't finish this post without giving a huge shout-out to all the lovely folk I met during my travels. The friendly cafe staff at the ‘Sweet & Salty Cafe’, where I had a fabulous cuppa with a generous slice of Victoria sponge cake, and the incredible buskers performing a rendition of ‘Singin’ in the Rain’, all right next to the 'Cackling Chicken Ride'. You know, I really thought that the buskers would make me blush with embarrassment at one point. There they were, dressed in simple black tuxedos with black fedoras! What a contrast! But, of course, it just went to show that no matter your style or genre, music is music, and the stage is a beautiful place to share the joy with your community! You can tell these guys had loads of fun!
Speaking of music, darling, my performance couldn't have been complete without my lovely new microphone, that sparkles like a unicorn! She's a little sassy but oh so powerful! I just can't wait to take her on more of my wonderful adventures!
Now darling, as a fabulous drag queen on the go, you know I can't leave without having at least one fantastic outfit to boast about! Well, let me tell you all about the absolutely gorgeous vintage silk pink tutu, I wore for my show. Just imagine, shimmering silk with the faintest blush of pink overlaid with white polka dots and with the sweetest lace trim – an absolutely delightful concoction! This tutu made me feel like a fabulous fairy dancing through a field of pink blossoms! Oh, and this piece really felt perfect for the magical slough air, full of candy floss, popcorn and laughter! I knew this tutu would just work a treat at the 'Festive Fun Fair' - it was just so much fun!
