Hello my darlings! It's your TutuQueen here, and guess what? I'm in the Big Apple! I've finally made it to New York City, and oh my, is it a tutu-tastic wonderland. Imagine, dear readers, a pink dream come true! Pink buildings, pink cabs, pink everything, practically, if you could just imagine!
You know me, I'm all about the pink life and spreading the Tutu love, so naturally, when I was invited to perform in this fabulous city, I packed my biggest and pinkest tutu, a sparkly bejeweled creation fit for a queen, and hopped on a train!
Oh, the train journey! So elegant! Such a civilised way to travel, watching the world go by. I couldn't help myself; I even donned my favourite pink satin gloves and matching shoes (the only practical ones in my luggage, darling). Every so often, I'd give a little twirl and twizzle in my seat, hoping nobody minded, you know, just a little tutu action.
It was such a thrill, though, stepping off that train into the vibrant streets of New York. Everything is so alive! You can feel the energy coursing through you. And, my goodness, the shops! From glamorous department stores to independent boutiques with rainbow colours and dazzling window displays, my shopping soul was completely overwhelmed! And let me tell you, finding the perfect pink party outfit wasn't hard. This city truly loves a splash of pink!
So far, my time here has been a kaleidoscope of sparkling memories:
Ballet Bliss: The Lincoln Center ballet was pure enchantment! It was a magnificent display of athleticism, artistry, and graceful movement, all choreographed beautifully in elegant costumes. The energy from the audience was incredible, all our eyes fixated on the stage as the ballerinas pirouetted, leapt and swiveled, making our hearts soar with every twirl! I could almost feel my tutu swirling with excitement.
Street Smarts: Broadway, my loves, was an explosion of lights, music and joy! It felt like a giant street party with a theatre show on every corner! I can't imagine how anyone would choose, they are all incredible! But even amongst this glorious whirlwind, you could spot some brilliant tutu-worthy outfits. Some fantastic feathered headpieces, bright and bold colours, and the most stunning gowns with sparkling sequins that made even my sparkly heart beat a little faster.
Twirling & Twirling: I took a ballet class here - it was amazing! A great workout and a fantastic opportunity to make new friends. Everyone in the class was so warm and welcoming; the energy was brilliant! It felt so special to connect with other like-minded individuals, people who understand the sheer joy of movement and dancing,
Glamour & Glitz: Now, a bit about my performance at the fair in the park. This was my first outdoor drag performance, a new experience, but I was up for it! The atmosphere was so electric! You could see so many smiling faces! Everyone was enjoying the music, the carnival atmosphere, the rides, and the performers like me! I put on the show of my life! A kaleidoscope of music, dance, humour, and, of course, my dazzling pink tutu! You should've seen their eyes when I struck my signature Tutu Pose. A symphony of glitter, feathers, and rainbows!
The beauty of this city, my lovelies, is that there's something for everyone, everywhere. And I haven't even mentioned the food! From delicious bagels with cream cheese to juicy burgers to perfectly crafted lattes – let's just say I've indulged in every fabulous New York delicacy.
But New York wouldn't be complete without some local pink inspiration. It wouldn't be a trip if I didn't visit the pinkest spot in town: the Flamingo Hotel. Talk about a dream come true! From the lobby with its glittering pink chandeliers to the rooms adorned with fuchsia satin, the Flamingo exudes a certain glamour, and it just happened to be perfect for an outfit photoshoot. My tutu shimmered as I posed against the flamingo wallpaper with a cherry-red phone (it just had to be pink, but it wasn't!), and the photographs? Simply magnifique! I know this won't surprise you, but I may just have brought a little pink flamingo with me back home. It's only natural, don't you think? A girl's got to have some souvenir souvenirs!
As you can see, my trip has been a whirlwind of adventure and inspiration! This fabulous city is so alive and vibrant! New York really embodies everything I adore: fashion, beauty, theatre, dancing, music. You'd never know that a scientist, by day, was secretly living this dream of shimmering lights, flamboyant fashion and colourful stage performances!
Now, dear readers, I need to say something incredibly exciting! It's something so magical I almost want to keep it secret. Almost. I just finished a chat with one of the coolest producers at one of New York’s best-known Broadway productions! And you’ll never believe this! My TutuQueen is being considered for a small role in a new, pink-themed, sparkling and fabulously fabulous performance next year! I can hardly believe it. Can you even believe this? How fabulous is this news! It’s truly a Tutu Dream!
