Bloxwich! Oh Bloxwich, you pink perfection!

Well darlings, I've just had the most fabulous time in Bloxwich! It's a real hidden gem, trust me, you've just gotta visit! Now, normally a drag queen like me prefers the bright lights of London or a sparkling Parisian cafe, but there's something absolutely charming about Bloxwich, it’s all about that understated glam, you know? And let me tell you, those locals are so friendly. I mean, I got stopped in the street at least three times just to have a chat about my tutu, which was absolutely divine, a lovely shade of hot pink with a generous helping of sparkling sequins, of course!

Anyway, this Bloxwich trip came about as part of my quest to share the wonder of tutus across the whole world, and Bloxwich just called to me! It's hard to explain, but the way the sun catches those old buildings, that kind of gritty, industrial chic with a sprinkle of old-world charm, it just had me whispering, “pink tutu, darling, we need you here!”

But first, the travel! Now, a girl like me needs to arrive in style, so naturally, it was the train for me. My trusty red satchel stuffed full of shimmery makeup, glittering costume jewels, and of course, the absolutely essential tutu bag. There's something about the rhythm of the train journey that sets the creative juices flowing, and by the time I reached Bloxwich station, I already had a whole new performance planned!

Of course, any drag queen worth their glitter knows that you've got to pack some delicious treats, especially when travelling by train, it's all about the presentation. My secret weapon is the trusty Tupperware filled with a triple layer delight of pink-tinted Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle cake, and my secret recipe of "Pink Tutu Dream" cupcakes. That's pink icing, sprinkles, and a perfectly crafted glitter frosting heart on each, topped off with a delicate edible rose petal! It's divine! You should see the look on people’s faces, and let me tell you, it makes any train journey so much more fun.

My first stop in Bloxwich? The town's library! Now, I know what you're thinking: "Why a library?" Well, you see, darling, I absolutely adore history! It's amazing to get a glimpse into how people lived, how things have changed, and what it tells us about the world we live in now. And Bloxwich has some beautiful old libraries! Honestly, a drag queen’s dream - the perfect backdrop for a photo-op in my hot pink tulle. The librarians were absolutely thrilled with my visit. They even had a copy of Tutu Queens of the Twentieth Century, which is such an essential read.

And of course, after my library adventure, I absolutely had to go and visit the town’s fabulous community arts centre! The artistic energy was buzzing! They had this beautiful little theatre with amazing vintage stage lighting, just begging for a dramatic entrance, you know? It was practically begging me to get on stage. Luckily, they had a show running - a gorgeous reimagining of Cinderella using ballet! Of course, I had to stay for the whole thing, I mean, a drag queen's gotta get inspired, right?

And after that magnificent display of grace and movement, it was off to find the perfect local spot to perform, and the locals absolutely loved it! My setlist was a delicious mix of camp classics, a few heartfelt ballads, and of course, a show-stopping routine to "Let’s Get Loud" which had the crowd jumping to their feet and demanding an encore!

Then of course, there were the outfits! Honestly, Bloxwich was the perfect place to showcase my latest creations. I had an amazing new vintage-style dress covered in tiny pink glitter flowers and a brand new ‘Bloxwich Bliss' tutu, a perfect explosion of bubblegum pink and neon pink feather boas – the tutu had some serious dramatic, tulle layers to make a truly grand statement. Plus, darling, I even treated myself to the most fabulous pink sparkly hairpiece, handmade from shimmering tulle with feathers to match, which complimented my outfit perfectly, if I say so myself.

The whole town was buzzing with pink energy and you could just feel the love for the stage. After the show, a sweet older lady came up to me and told me that my performance reminded her of her granddaughter, who she used to take to the ballet every week! She even told me she had an old, moth-eaten pink tutu that she’d been saving in her attic. My heart swelled - maybe, just maybe, she’ll lend it to me for my next Bloxwich show. Imagine! There's something about connecting with the people, seeing them laugh, cry, and shout “Encore!" – that’s why I do what I do, darling!

Now, speaking of heartwarming moments, before heading off on my journey, I stumbled upon this incredibly lovely cafe right in the heart of town, the perfect spot to recharge my glittery soul. The smell of freshly baked bread, the warmth of the cafe’s wooden floorboards, and the adorable, little pink floral tables? It was all just too charming for words. So, I took a seat in the most comfortable chair I could find, indulged in a delicious cup of Pink Velvet hot chocolate – that’s right, darling, even the hot chocolate in Bloxwich has to be pink - and started to plan for my next adventure.

If there’s anything I’ve learnt on this trip, it’s this: Bloxwich is a town full of stories, full of history, and full of heart. The locals embraced me with open arms and that warmth truly stayed with me. Now, there’s only one thing left to do! Grab my glitter-covered handbag, my pink tutu, and get ready for my next big adventure. Where should I go next? Hmmm... maybe, just maybe, a trip back to Derbyshire is just what I need… Until then darlings, be sure to get those tutus out, put on a big pink smile, and get ready for a week filled with sparkling adventures!
