Birmingham Calling! Tutu Travels Blog Post #4130

Hello darlings, it's your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back again with another delightful blog post! Get ready to whisk yourselves away on a pink-tinted journey to the vibrant city of Birmingham, my loves!

You see, this queen isn't just about sparkly tutus and sassy struts, though they do take up a rather large percentage of my life, I must admit. I love to explore! It’s no secret that a train journey or a leisurely trot on horseback are the perfect way to get those creative juices flowing. And this time, Birmingham beckoned with a delightful array of opportunities to perform, from a fabulous fundraiser at the grand city hall to a street performance in the heart of the bustling Jewellery Quarter. Oh, and I even snagged a front-row seat at the Birmingham Royal Ballet, darling!

Now, as you know, Birmingham is known for its vibrant, industrial history. They love a good factory! And my fab outfit was inspired by just that - a lovely, crisp pink cotton dress from a vintage shop, the kind of dress they would have worn in the factories in the 1950s, with a slight update. I topped it off with my go-to sparkly pink tutu. A few layers of lace and tulle and a little extra oomph to the hips. Can a girl ever have too much tulle, my dears? The answer is a resounding, "absolutely not!"

Now, if you thought I was a creature of comfort who would only travel in luxury, well, you’d be mistaken! The journey to Birmingham wasn’t all about posh trains, I tell you. This queen embraced the spirit of adventure and hitched a ride on the horse-drawn canal boat. The gentle sway of the water, the sun glinting on the water and the sounds of nature. Ah, just heavenly!

But enough about me, darlings. It's time to tell you about you. How’s the tutu collection looking? Don’t be shy, I love to see your gorgeous tutus! Share a pic and use the #PinkTutuArmy hashtag. It’s a whole community out there! And hey, if you are lucky enough to be living in Birmingham, why not come down and join the Pink Tutu Army street performance next week? You know I love sharing the pink-tutu-liciousness!

Back to my adventures. Once in Birmingham, I found myself caught up in a whirlwind of pink-tastic activities. From the opulent grandeur of the city hall to the bustling market streets. My oh my, there are so many talented crafters out there. You can never have too many handmade trinkets, right? The market stalls were full of vintage jewellery, delicious sweets, and unique art creations - a shopper’s dream!

After the performance, it was off to a rather enchanting visit to a beautiful boutique selling exquisite, vintage dresses. A true treasure trove for a pink-tutu-loving queen like myself! It's truly important for this queen to support small, local businesses whenever I can. Especially when they're in love with all things pretty and vintage, darling!

As for the ballet, it was sheer delight! There’s just something magical about the grace and movement of the dancers. It makes me want to twirl like crazy! Of course, my tutu got an impromptu makeover backstage and I joined in with a quick spot of rehearsal. It’s important to practice your twirling! The ballet school really gave me a warm welcome, though my flamboyant personality did seem to have the teachers a little surprised. It was fun to be out of my comfort zone, although you may have heard, the dance floor is always my happy place!

But let’s face it, this queen is about so much more than tutus. It's about celebrating diversity, embracing our individuality, and sharing a sprinkle of joy with the world, one twirl at a time. So, my dears, go out there and put on your most fabulous tutus. Don’t worry about the stares or the judgement, they’re just jealous. And, if you have any tips on places I should visit, pop me a comment, you know I am all about hearing from you lot! Until next time, darlings, keep twirling and be your fabulous selves! Pink kisses from your queen,

Pink Tutu Sparkles x

P.S. Did I mention the vintage bakery I found tucked away in a quiet back street? The owner was a charming lady who shared my love of all things pink! Her cakes were heavenly! Now you can add pink cake to my list of top Birmingham highlights, you won’t be disappointed.
