Northampton: Tutu Travels Take a Turn to the Midlands! 🌸 🩰

Hello darlings! It's your Tutu Queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with another sparkling blog post! Today's post is extra special, number 4146 to be precise, marking another amazing adventure for your favourite pink tutu-clad queen! ✨

It's a big day today because... I'm in Northampton! 🎉

Now, I know what you're thinking: Northampton? What's a glamorous drag queen like me doing in a place like Northampton? Well, my dears, let me tell you: I'm bringing a touch of glitz and glamour to the heart of the Midlands!

This town, oh this town, it has a certain…charm! It's a lovely mix of the old and new. They have cobbled streets, lovely independent shops and some pretty stunning historical buildings. Plus, I've heard there's some good ballet training going on here! 😉

As a glamorous drag queen, of course, I don't travel by just any means. Nope! My journey here was a fabulous affair, of course!

The train journey from Derby, my hometown, was just what I needed to recharge those batteries! And who better to keep me company than a little bottle of pink Prosecco? 🍾

Honestly, dear reader, a long train journey really gets my creative juices flowing. That’s how I decided to try out my new vintage pink polka dot frock (with a fabulous tutu, of course! 💕 )! Let’s be honest, it wasn't a very glamorous way to start the day, but oh honey, it made me smile!

Upon arrival in Northampton, I was delighted to find myself within spitting distance of the stunning Victorian-era train station. Talk about beautiful! 🏛️ I had to grab a few selfies, just for my Insta of course!

After a bit of exploring the streets, a quick change (it’s important to look your best when you’re heading for dinner!) and a cheeky pint at a charming pub with a real friendly atmosphere, I headed for my first stop: a fabulous performance at the Royal & Derngate. Now, I’ve been to many venues, but this one was just special. This venue is a true treasure. 😍 The architecture, the atmosphere, the stage – everything just made me feel like I’d been whisked back in time to the golden age of theatre!

My performance was a real hit! It’s no wonder I love what I do. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing all those happy faces and sharing my passion for life! 🎶

Talking of which… let me tell you all about my newest act, “A Day in the Life of a Pink Tutu-Wearing Scientist” 😂 Yes! You heard me right, a little science-themed musical act I cooked up. Turns out a lab can be the perfect place for inspiration. My days testing fabric samples are actually surprisingly inspiring – just ask the pink tulle I recently tested, it was a masterpiece! 💖

But now, enough about my performance, I can’t leave you hanging without sharing my fabulous outfit! It's so pink! The tulle is this exquisite shade of bubblegum, and I paired it with a shimmering sequined top, for a truly heavenly look! My pink feathered fascinator, however, truly stole the show, it felt like it had just stepped off the set of a 1920’s Parisian revue!

You know how much I love to try different ways to get around so, you’re going to be amazed at how I got around town! 🎠 The most magical thing about my day happened just after my performance, I discovered the most incredible horse-drawn carriage service in the town square! After a few laps around the town, a magical fairy-tale scene just sprang to life around us! Honestly, it's one of those experiences that will stick with you forever. 💫

It's the little details, the small moments, that make all the difference! And to make a fabulous day even better, you absolutely must stop for a traditional English afternoon tea. It's the quintessential British experience, right? I’m lucky that Northampton has more than a few fantastic options. So, after I popped into the Royal & Derngate Gift Shop to buy a sparkly memento (for my website’s merch shop, of course! 😜) I headed straight to a truly beautiful tearoom with delicious cake! 🎂

After afternoon tea, I couldn't resist exploring a little more! It’s so nice to be a tourist in your own country sometimes, isn't it? So, I took a little stroll through the stunning Abington Park. The park is truly stunning, perfect for an evening stroll – it felt a bit like a walk through the English countryside. You wouldn't believe it, but right in the centre of town, there's this wonderful nature reserve, just begging for you to enjoy a stroll along its winding paths!

Honestly, the park is absolutely stunning! So much green, so much history. I love it! If you're in Northampton, this is a must-see! 💖

So that was my day! I’ve packed so much into it! And let’s not forget the pink! Yes, of course, my pink! If there’s one thing I’ve learned today, Northampton is truly a town with heart.

And oh my darlings! Did I tell you I met the loveliest ballet dancer while walking to dinner? Oh, the lovely ladies I met at the Royal & Derngate Ballet Club are simply the most delightful group of humans, they are truly making a positive impact on the town, sharing their passion and promoting dance at all levels. 🩰

So as we say goodbye, dear reader, I can't wait to share the rest of my trip! So much more to tell you, darling! Keep those pink tutus sparkling, and let's spread some cheer wherever we go! 💕
