Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! Your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles is back with another fabulous adventure, and this time we're heading to the stunning seaside town of Bournemouth. It’s a perfect escape for a weekend of frolicking on the beach, catching some rays, and of course, indulging in some truly fabulous theatrical treats!
Oh, and speaking of fabulous, darling, you wouldn’t believe the amazing outfit I concocted for this journey. My pink tutu, my absolute best one with the extra sparkly layers, a custom-made hot pink dress with layers of shimmering fabric (all inspired by my favourite ballet costumes, of course), and some divine hot pink stilettos for a touch of sophisticated chic. Let’s just say the people at Bournemouth train station were truly captivated. I felt like a blooming ballerina, strutting through the platforms in a glorious explosion of pink and glitz. 💖
The journey itself was just as delightful, too. The train journey down from Derbyshire, past those beautiful rolling green hills, felt like stepping out of a classic romantic comedy. I couldn't help but tap my feet along to some old classics while enjoying my specially crafted pink-frosted teacake. 🧁 This journey really reminds me why travelling by train is always a treat, it’s much more civilized and lets you embrace the sights without any road rage worries. 😌
And speaking of road rage worries, remember when I told you I sometimes travel by horse? Well, I couldn’t do it for Bournemouth this time, alas. A very kind and lovely couple who saw my advert offered me a horse-drawn carriage to the theatre but sadly it just wouldn't fit my huge sparkly box! It might have fit a miniature pony but not my full size costume trunk. Maybe for a small country village gig in the future. 🤔
Upon arriving in Bournemouth, I found myself truly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of beautiful beaches. Imagine it: soft, golden sands, crystal clear azure water, and even better, an abundance of ice cream stands! We all know pink is my absolute favourite, so I indulged in a mountain of bubblegum and strawberry swirls. I’m so glad I managed to stop myself from having another, my tutu already fit snugly around my expanding midriff!
This beautiful seaside haven was perfect to recharge for the evenings’ delights: The Bournemouth Ballet Festival. 🩰 Yes, darlings, I have a truly special affinity for all things ballet, especially pink tutus! In fact, I was first inspired to try drag when I donned my best pink tutu in a fundraiser for our university ballet club. There’s just something magical about them. Imagine the swirls, the elegance, and that stunning burst of pink… It’s absolutely entrancing! 🥰
The festival was simply dazzling! From captivating performances of classic Swan Lake to experimental modern works, it was truly a feast for the eyes and the soul. 🦢 And oh darling, did you see that costume in the last act? It was covered in sparkly sequins and featured a stunning layered tutu in, wait for it... a shimmering shade of PINK! I nearly cried with excitement! ✨
I did even better than simply attending; I had the honour of joining the dancers for a private workshop with the world-famous ballerina, Serena Grace! Let me tell you, those girls are tough, and her stretches almost killed me! But I was able to teach them about the wonders of performing in a sparkly pink tutu. That night they did their performance with more gusto and energy and, let me tell you, my tutorial had more than just a sprinkle of magical sparkle on it. The rest of the performances at the Bournemouth Ballet Festival were filled with passion, energy and some truly mesmerising pirouettes. You couldn't find a more delightful way to spend a weekend if you tried!
And of course, darling, no weekend adventure for Pink Tutu Sparkles would be complete without a bit of fabulous shopping! My visit wouldn't be complete without a trip to Bournemouth's charming shops, especially those specializing in beautiful, shimmering fabrics. My new pink glitter tulle stole the show! The best thing about it is that I can wear it every single day – it's fabulous over jeans, over leggings, over my beloved pink dresses, heck, I can even wear it under a jacket to keep the rain away! What a gem! 💎
To keep the fun going I found an old-school sweet shop overflowing with treats from my childhood - sherbet fountains, fizzy sweets, and yes, you guessed it - Pink Marshmallows! It was just like taking a step back in time! 🍭🍬
The perfect ending to a perfect Bournemouth adventure was finding a cozy tea room on the pier with a breathtaking view of the ocean. I couldn’t help myself, I had a lovely pink afternoon tea with some fabulous miniature sandwiches and homemade pink-hued fruit tarts. 🍓 My afternoon tea came with a special souvenir pink tutu shaped teapot that was just perfect for my collection! 🫖
This weekend was all about indulging in my passions: ballet, sparkles, and all things pink, of course. But it was also about reminding myself how much I adore travelling, meeting new people, and creating memories that I can cherish for a lifetime.
