Rainham: The Sparkles Hit The County! (Post #4332)

Oh darlings, hello from Rainham!

This pink tutu's just buzzing from my latest adventure, and I just have to tell you all about it! This post is actually a little overdue, since I’m currently sitting in a little cafe in Rainham (think charming tea rooms but with more vegan cakes - and a fabulous display of pink parasols on the wall - very chic)

But anyway, let me rewind a bit - it’s been a whirlwind week! The last time I was in the beautiful county of Kent was a while back, and I couldn’t wait to get back - they have some of the best ballet shows in the UK (just one reason, trust me, it's more than one).

This week, I traveled to Rainham by train, my trusty little case of pink sparkles packed with all the necessary glitter-tastic essentials for my evening performance! The train journey was delightful, a total escape - the carriage was full of cheery chatter and sunshine streaming in - oh how I love that warm light hitting the fabric of my tutu!

But my favourite part? A delightful young lad with rosy cheeks sat opposite me, gazing out at the rolling hills, utterly captivated. “Where’s it going?” he piped up, in a voice just barely above a whisper. “Is it going to the pink palace?” Cue my inner Pink Tutu Sparkles screaming “YOU GOT IT GIRL!”

We giggled as I answered, “It’s going to a place full of magic, where everyone dances under sparkly stars,” and his eyes lit up - pure, joyful wonder! Well you know I pulled out my travel sized shimmer powder (never leave home without it!) and painted his face with a sparkly pink butterfly (the girl has standards! And I love supporting the next generation of sparkles - my little pink-tutu warrior!).

When we finally reached Rainham (oh that quaint little station!), the sun was setting in the most dazzling shade of pink! Honestly, I could not have scripted it any better for a magical evening!

First up, it was off to a little ballet class in the village hall. Yes, darlings! My fellow tutu-lovers have a monthly Pink Tutu dance-a-thon – I can’t lie, I had to get involved! The community vibe was so warm - everyone so happy to have their daily dose of twirling joy. It’s such a privilege to see ballet move from stage to streets to our community halls. Honestly, it really makes this old girl feel happy - everyone deserves to express their creative spark!

But honestly, darlings, this is what I love about my journey with Pink Tutu Sparkles - spreading that sparkle wherever I go! And there's nothing like a little twirl and shimmy to bring some smiles! It’s like, I can’t help myself! Pink tutus, sparkles, laughter - it just sort of flows from my soul to my sequins to the whole world. And I love it! I can’t imagine a day without the glitter, honestly!

Later that night was the real piece de resistance. The annual Rainham Country Fair - which is always a delightful opportunity to spread the joy of the pink tutu. And this year, darlings, I went all out.

Cue Pink Tutu Sparkles spotlight intro song! I may have created a tiny little pink-tutu dress-up competition (naturally!). I am a girl who loves to entertain - so a competition for the best tutu wearers at the fair is absolutely my jam - and oh, the competition was fierce!

There was this little boy, dressed in a makeshift pink tutu made from scraps of a table cloth - you know the kind your Nan might use to cover her biscuit tin - absolute adorable! I had to give him the judges' “Spirit of the Tutu” award - after all, a pink tutu is for everyone.

Another little girl came dressed as a pink butterfly - just like I painted earlier on the train! What a stroke of magic for us both! I almost cried!

But my absolute favourite, and the rightful winner of the “Best Dressed in Pink” prize, was an older lady with hair as white as snow, who had literally stitched her very own pink tutu - made from feathers and sparkles - she even had matching pink sparkly gloves! What a queen. She deserves every bit of “Best Dressed in Pink” praise for that absolute masterpiece.

My favourite bit? Watching people come out of their shells! Some of them were so hesitant to join in at first! But it was incredible to see how quickly the power of pink and glitter loosened up their anxieties! Before I knew it, there was a whole parade of pink walking down the country fair - the true definition of magic, don’t you think?

And now, darling, this Pink Tutu Sparkles is officially running on fumes - the journey is always worth it. This Pink Tutu needs a good dose of sugar and pink bubble bath tonight, before I set off on my next big adventure (just wait until I tell you about the sparkle surprise waiting for me back in my home town).

You'll never believe this darling - even in my scientist lab by day, I found the perfect pink dye for fabrics (yes, my friends, even scientists love pink!). Who knew?

Remember to stay tuned on Pink Tutu Sparkles. Every day's an adventure. Until next time, keep your sparkle shining,

Pink Tutu Sparkles.

(XOXOXO - A. Sparkles.)
