Hello, darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and I'm bubbling over with excitement! Post number 4372, and we're taking a trip to the delightful town of Bournville, just a stone's throw from the vibrant city of Birmingham! As you know, my love for tutus and travelling knows no bounds, and this journey is a delightful blend of both!
Remember how I was saying I needed a break from the usual London grind? Well, I decided to switch up the scenery with a good ol' fashioned train ride to this picturesque corner of England! There's something incredibly magical about watching the countryside whizz past your window, and I just love the comforting rumble of the train tracks. Makes me feel all nostalgic, like a character out of a Jane Austen novel. (But, obviously, with a fabulous pink tutu!)
So, how did this grand Bournville adventure come to be? Well, as you know, I love chasing after ballet events - the stage, the costumes, the sheer beauty of it all! And, luckily, there was a beautiful ballet performance at Bournville's stunning arts centre, showcasing the work of talented local dancers. Now, can a tutu queen resist an opportunity like that? Absolutely not!
It’s been a while since I last strutted my stuff on a stage outside of London, and I have to say, performing for a different crowd brings a whole new level of energy! The people of Bournville are warm and welcoming, and they genuinely embraced my pink tutu sparkle!
After the ballet, I indulged in a spot of shopping, naturally! Bournville is a charming town with independent boutiques that have the most amazing collections - I found myself picking up some seriously beautiful pieces, with a touch of vintage charm and a whole lot of pink, of course!
But it wasn't just about shopping and the performance, darling! Bournville itself is a delight to explore. I spent a beautiful afternoon wandering through the stunning Victorian streets, imagining the history and stories held within those brick walls. It’s hard to resist snapping a few pictures (because where’s the fun in a trip without documenting it for the world to see?), with the gorgeous pastel colours of the houses and the intricate floral designs - truly picture-perfect!
And can we talk about Bournville's famous chocolate factory? This was my kind of factory tour - complete with delicious samples, and some behind-the-scenes looks into the chocolate-making magic! My favourite bit was learning about the history of the Cadbury family and how this town came to be known as the heart of chocolate. I’ve been known to eat a chocolate or two (or a dozen) every now and again, and it really does give you a sweet tooth appreciation for the finer things in life!
You know me, darling - always trying to spread the pink tutu love! And wouldn’t you know it, during my tour, I spotted a sweet little boutique called "Pink Paradise"! It's a real little haven for all things pink, with everything from adorable tutus for little ones to beautiful blush-coloured accessories for adults. I may have picked up a little something for myself... 🤫
But Bournville wasn’t just about shopping and chocolate! A highlight was stumbling upon this fabulous park with the most enchanting horse riding stables. Of course, I couldn't resist giving horseback riding a whirl, which always reminds me of childhood adventures and dreams! Riding through the leafy pathways, with the wind in my hair and the scent of lavender filling the air… magical doesn’t even begin to describe it!
Let me tell you, folks, that horse was feeling the pink tutu energy! And that’s how the world should be – everyone embracing each other’s individual styles and embracing life with a whole lot of pink sparkle!
Speaking of sparkle, my Bournville performance had everyone glittering! It was the perfect blend of traditional ballet, my signature glittery flair, and a sprinkle of pink-tutu charm. You see, my darlings, I’ve been working hard to elevate my act beyond the conventional. I love challenging the definition of what drag means, embracing the classic, the glamorous, the fun and, of course, always including a whole lotta pink.
I want to encourage every single one of you to embrace your own individuality and sparkle with joy, like I do! Life is about expressing yourself, having a laugh, and rocking your own personal style. And what better way to do that than to embrace a touch of pink-tutu fabulousness!
From ballet stages to the horse stables, to the delicious chocolate treats, to the vibrant streets, Bournville truly delivered the perfect escape. I’ve been soaking in the magic, and now I'm brimming with inspiration for my next creative adventures!
