#TutuQueen on 2012-01-13 stars in Worthing

Hello my darling tutu lovers! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to Worthing and buzzing with excitement! As you all know, my life revolves around spreading the joy of the pink tutu and I’m constantly on the move, spreading the good word across the land (and sometimes by sea - that's a story for another day, darlings!)

Now, Worthing… where do I even start? A lovely coastal town, bustling with life and just a stone's throw from the seaside. The sea air always makes me feel like twirling in a brand-new tutu and let me tell you, the seafront was practically begging for a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance.

My journey down was, as always, an adventure. This time I travelled by train - good ol' fashioned steam train, darling. You can't beat the romance of chugging through the countryside, admiring the rolling hills and quaint villages. Makes me feel like a heroine from a vintage film! I even found a little local artisan shop selling beautiful fabric, the perfect pink to adorn a brand new tutu creation! I think a little vintage lace will go beautifully, what do you think?

Of course, I packed a suitcase bursting with colour, ready to bring my signature style to Worthing. Let me tell you, a pink tutu certainly catches the eye in a seaside town! The locals were so friendly and warm - they loved my outfit. One elderly lady even complimented my new sequined shoes (I do love a good sparkle!).

The highlight of my Worthing adventure was definitely the ballet performance at the theatre. You can imagine the excitement I felt - watching the dancers gracefully move, their movements so fluid, so enchanting. You really have to witness the magic of ballet firsthand to appreciate it, darlings. Their outfits were glorious - just wait until you see the photos, they'll be up on my Instagram!

After the ballet, I joined a street dance class. A good workout is essential for maintaining a showgirl's energy, you know! It’s funny - everyone loved that I came in my pink tutu. We had so much fun! Everyone, no matter their age or background, just started to naturally embrace the pink tutu energy! It was truly magical.

You wouldn’t believe the incredible food I found in Worthing! There was a café right on the beach serving the most delicious pink cupcakes, topped with sprinkles! So very me, I had to get a dozen to share (with my very excited Twitter followers, naturally!) They loved it, too!

Now, before you think I spent all my time in the cafés and dancing studios (I know you're worried, you love me!), let's talk about the heart of every pink tutu journey - the performances! Oh my darling, they were just sparkly. I’ll never forget that look of absolute awe on the faces of the children watching me. One little boy even whispered to his mother, “He's like a fairy princess!”. I’ll tell you, my heart swelled right up at that. To bring a little bit of magic into someone's life, especially a child, truly makes my pink tutu journey worthwhile.

You know what, though, I find my biggest reward comes from sharing this experience with you all. It is such a delight to know I'm inspiring so many to embrace the pink tutu. To step out of your comfort zone, to wear your own fabulous colors, and to embrace the fun and joy it brings. Because really, why not? Life's too short to be anything but yourself.

Worthing has left me feeling refreshed and full of inspiration. As always, it's all about sharing the pink tutu love, and with each trip, I hope to make that message just a little bit bigger, bolder, and brighter. Now, don’t think that's all you'll get from Pink Tutu Sparkles - my journey continues. I have an amazing photoshoot lined up with the lovely London Fashion Collective in the near future. It's been an incredible few months. It's hard to believe it’s been almost ten years since I slipped on that first pink tutu at the university fundraiser. Remember those days, working in that lab, the feeling of pure joy after a day of analysing fibres, testing fabric colours, always thinking about that tutu… and that beautiful blush pink, my first tutu was a gorgeous dusky blush - I knew I'd found my true self then! My world exploded with possibilities, the pink tutu was my doorway into another world of fabulous!

I love the contrast of my day and night life. I’m so lucky that I’ve been able to make my drag passion work. The science side keeps me grounded, the colours in my world as a scientist – pink is always a popular dye! - really feeds into my stage persona and vice versa, each enhances the other. Of course, my trusty sewing machine, oh darling, it's an absolute life-saver. There's a reason I have my sewing room hidden at the back of the lab! I work out my new creations in the middle of the night, usually inspired by whatever ballet, show, or art gallery I’ve seen recently!

But let me tell you, it hasn't always been easy. My parents were hesitant at first - they'd pictured a life in a lab coat, like they were studying to be - but I told them, I wanted to do what brought me joy, what made me shine. And with a little push from them, and my own strong will, I turned my dream into a reality! My real, everyday world now fuels my performance world, and my performance fuels my everyday. It's a perfect dance, darling!

And I know, deep down, I'm helping people feel a little more comfortable with their own identities, that's my greatest achievement, showing the world it’s ok to sparkle. To embrace those dreams we've been holding back on for so long. And that’s the beauty of the pink tutu, it just makes everyone happy - no matter their size, shape, gender, or background, everyone’s a princess in their own special way. So let your own inner pink tutu queen shine through. Don't be afraid to be fabulous!
