Hello darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles, bringing you another scintillating instalment from the life of a fabulous tutu-loving queen! Today, we're talking Oxford! This magnificent city is bursting with history, culture, and, of course, the perfect places to twirl. (Did you know, darlings, this is blog post number 4416! I told you I'm dedicated to sharing the sparkly life!).
Remember when I told you I was totally hooked on ballet? Well, ever since that fateful day at the university ballet club when I slipped into that pink tutu for charity, it’s been an endless love affair with tutus, all the swirling, dancing, and everything that goes with it. And you know what? My fabulous life, this drag persona of Pink Tutu Sparkles, it all started with that single pink tutu!
Before we delve into my adventures, darling, did you know that I love trains? There’s something about that gentle rocking and the click-clack of the wheels that just screams elegance! That’s how I got to Oxford: a fabulous train ride all the way from Derbyshire! I must say, it’s truly a treat travelling in style with my sparkly suitcase (yes, a sparkly suitcase!), and my little black bag that carries my essential essentials: my pink sparkly eye mask, my mini perfume atomiser for my signature scent of strawberry and bubblegum, and my favourite lipgloss - always!
Now, about Oxford. As a queen, I can tell you, darling, there’s nothing more delightful than discovering hidden gems! I spent the first afternoon just wandering through the streets, soaking in the energy, taking photos, of course. And let me tell you, these ancient buildings, the stone walls, and all the books - a perfect place to dream about the possibilities! I just love seeing these centuries-old structures – history is so important, don’t you think?
That evening, it was time for some fun and dancing! I had a gig at a lovely pub, which was perfect for showcasing my fabulousness. The patrons loved my show - and as a bonus, I met a few locals who, let’s just say, are now planning their own tutu outfits! My aim, darling, is to get everyone rocking a pink tutu! Just imagine - a sea of tutus, sparkling and swishing in every colour of the rainbow! Wouldn’t that be amazing?
But Oxford is more than just history, darling! I couldn’t come here without visiting the Bodleian Library - I even managed to snag a sneak peek of the iconic Divinity School where many movies were filmed - talk about a glamorous setting!
As much as I adore dancing and glitz, you know how I feel about a good ballet show! Well, guess what?! I snagged a couple of tickets for the Oxford Ballet Theatre - their performance of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ was truly magical! Oh, how I just adore these classic ballets - the graceful moves, the beautifully detailed costumes, and of course, the incredible ballerinas. And as if this whole experience couldn’t get any better, I discovered a ballet shop right next to the theatre – cue my sparkly squealing! The amount of tutus, ballet shoes, and leotards was mind-blowing! And did I tell you about the exquisite dancewear with sparkles and ribbons - my head just spun with excitement. (Let’s just say I did a bit of tutu-shopping. Gotta keep up with the trends, darling! ).
To add even more magic to my Oxford adventure, I found this incredible shop with handmade items. It had these fabulous hand-stitched fairy tutus and everything in beautiful, vibrant pink! The shopkeeper even let me try one on! (I've never worn a tutu in public before...but you know I totally slayed it!).
Oh, darling! One can’t visit Oxford without paying a visit to the Ashmolean Museum – this gorgeous place is a treasure trove of beautiful artefacts and artwork! I even saw a few historical gowns from different eras. And the way the museum used the natural light made the art truly shimmer – breathtaking!
Now, listen to this, darling! You know how much I adore horses, right? Oxford had an equestrian centre - which of course, I just HAD to visit! Imagine my delight! I even got to ride a lovely chestnut mare named Poppy, the gentlest creature with the sweetest disposition! It was an absolute dream! I felt the freedom and exhilaration of riding through the fields – what an amazing experience!
The most memorable moment though, was the sunset walk through the University of Oxford – the ancient buildings cast long shadows across the cobbled streets, bathed in a beautiful orange glow. It was pure romance! And the reflections on the River Cherwell – just magical!
I gotta say, my trip to Oxford was a perfect combination of history, culture, and sparkle! This beautiful city is a place to get lost in the dreamlike beauty, filled with stories and secrets waiting to be discovered. And you know me, I’m always ready to uncover some new sparkle, my dears!
