Bonjour mes amies! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and welcome back to my blog! I'm on cloud nine, darlings, because today's post marks a milestone! This is number 4435, believe it or not, and I'm still going strong, spreading the joy of pink tutus far and wide!
Now, as you all know, I'm a big believer in keeping it fun, fabulous and full of colour! And where better to celebrate that than in the charming city of Lyon! I always knew I had a special connection to this city; there's just something about those grand cobblestone streets, stunning architecture and the delicious smells of boulangeries, oh la la!
This time I made my grand entrance in style. Instead of taking a plane, which feels so… impersonal, I opted for a glorious train journey from Paris. There's something about gliding through the countryside, gazing out at rolling green hills and quaint little towns, that just screams romance. Plus, I got to pack my most extravagant outfit: a hot pink tutu, of course, and a silk top embroidered with hundreds of iridescent sequins. It definitely made for some curious glances on the train, but darling, what's a girl to do? We have to keep the sparkle going!
And, darling, speak of sparkle! I'm on a mission to bring my dazzling Pink Tutu Sparkles magic to Lyon's grand opera house, where they are putting on an absolutely spectacular production of La Bayadere! It's a masterpiece, my dears, full of passion, intrigue, and oh, so much exquisite ballet. To be surrounded by such incredible artistry fills my soul with joy. As always, my beloved Pink Tutu will be with me. A Pink Tutu at the Opera - does it get more glamorous? I think not!
I already met a darling woman in Lyon, a talented fashion designer who’s creating some utterly divine tutu-inspired garments for my next performance! Imagine! It's enough to make this little pink tutu-wearing queen swoon.
The journey from Derbyshire to France is always an adventure! But, I must tell you, the moment I arrived in the charming French capital, Paris, my heart leaped. What I love most about Paris, darling, is the spirit of romance. It's the city of love, after all. I could spend hours in the romantic and elegant streets of this incredible city, getting lost in all those tiny boutiques. You won’t believe the amazing selection of vintage shoes I found tucked away on a quiet cobbled street, hidden behind a beautiful window display. The shop owner, an elegant woman named Genevieve, knew all about ballet, tutus, and the wonders of pink!
Speaking of the wonders of pink, have I mentioned how much I love it?! This divine colour just radiates positivity. It reminds me of a sunrise over a field of sweet wildflowers, or the delightful swirls of bubblegum spun around in the wind. What's not to love about a colour so vibrant and happy?
But here's the thing, dears. Pink isn't just a colour, it's a lifestyle. It's about embracing all things fun, playful and utterly fabulous. It’s about embracing your individuality, about celebrating every shade of YOU! Now, you don't necessarily have to wear pink to achieve this, though I definitely recommend it, darling, trust me on that! You can make any colour pink simply by injecting your own dazzling personality into it!
Here's the thing. By day I’m Alex, a hard-working lab scientist, spending my days amongst test tubes, beakers and microscopes. I get lost in the microscopic world of fabrics. Who would have thought a science girl would get her inspiration from a tutu? It all started at the university where I joined the ballet club. At one charity event we had to try on outfits - and guess what? They had a pink tutu that felt amazing! Since then, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born! She gives me an escape, a platform to express myself, and a way to brighten up people's days!
From the scientific to the sparkly, I can't forget to mention the joy of the arts. You see, my love affair with dance started years ago, right here in my little Derbyshire village, when I started taking ballet lessons. Those hours in the studio, surrounded by swirling tutus, graceful movements and beautiful music, sparked something magical within me. This, my friends, is why I’m on my journey, from village halls to Parisian cabaret clubs, and now the stunning opéra in Lyon! I truly believe the world needs a bit more pink!
