Chester Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes on the North West! (Post #4452)

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back with another dazzling adventure from the world of tutus and tinsel! This week I’m whisking you off to the charming city of Chester, nestled in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Oh, it’s going to be fabulous!

As you know, my travels are a bit different from the average gal. No boring budget flights or stuffy hotels for me! I journey by train – the epitome of luxurious, old-world charm. This time, my ride was a handsome scarlet engine, a fitting chariot for a pink-tutu-clad queen like myself. I’d spent hours carefully selecting my ensemble: a vibrant pink tulle tutu, layers of shimmery chiffon, and a bejewelled tiara. It was enough to make the pigeons on the station platform gasp in envy.

Chester, with its medieval walls and cobbled streets, has an air of old-world magic. I instantly fell in love! I sashayed through the charming boutiques, admiring the window displays, picking out the perfect pastel pink cardigan, and swooning over a pair of ballet flats – you know, the ones with the dainty bow at the toes! It was all very “princess goes shopping” and my bank balance may have suffered a slight meltdown, but the feeling of sheer sartorial delight was worth every penny!

Speaking of shopping, you’ll never guess what I found tucked away in a dusty antiques shop – a stunning collection of vintage tutus, each one a delicate work of art! The owner, a darling lady with a twinkle in her eye, told me she’d bought them decades ago when ballet was all the rage. We had the most delightful conversation, her reminiscing about the golden age of dance and me regaling her with tales of my latest tutu creations.

It's funny, you know, how life throws you a curveball sometimes. When I was back in Derbyshire, studying for my science degree (yes, you heard that right, a scientist with a passion for pink tutus!), I'd never imagined I'd be swanning around a charming medieval town, hunting for vintage dancewear. I got into drag through a rather fortuitous university event – a charity fundraising drive, where I found myself volunteering at the costume department, forced to try on a fluffy pink tutu. I knew in that moment it was the start of a revolution!

My evening in Chester was a triumph. A grand ballroom transformed for my performance. The audience was enthralled as I took to the stage, a dazzling explosion of pink, pirouettes, and glitter. Even the stiffest upper lips in the crowd softened at the sight of my signature blend of theatrical flair and ballerina grace. I even threw in a few dazzling routines to "Pink Cadillac", the audience practically levitated!

But Chester wouldn't be complete without a bit of history and a taste of local culture. The Chester Cathedral was a breath-taking spectacle, the grandeur of its architecture reflected in its very essence. And, naturally, no visit to the region would be complete without indulging in a delicious local delicacy - cheese and onion pasties! Oh, the glorious, savoury goodness!

Now, it’s time for me to move on to my next adventure! My travels are taking me up the east coast next week – I hear Edinburgh has the most exquisite Victorian architecture and a dazzling collection of vintage dance halls, oh the possibilities! But rest assured, dear readers, I'll keep you updated with every detail of my journey, and hopefully inspire some of you to break out your own pink tutu, put on your most sparkly shoes, and embark on your own adventure, wherever that may be!

Until next time, keep it sparkly!

Yours always,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
