Oh, my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you all the latest fashion-tastic news straight from the delightful town of Welling! Yes, it's me, your favourite pink-tutu-clad queen of sequins and smiles, back for another glamorous blog post. Today, my little ballerinas, we're embarking on a journey of glittery discovery through the enchanting county of Kent!
This, my darlings, is a true story of how a Derbyshire girl (that's me, Alex in real life, just in case you missed it!) turned her love of tutus and sparkle into a fabulous life of travelling and sharing the joy of pink tutus with the world! (Spoiler alert: It all started with a charity fundraiser, some shimmering pink fabric and an epiphany that would forever change my destiny!)
Now, I don't know about you, but the sheer excitement of arriving in a new town always gets my glitter glands pumping. And let me tell you, Welling is absolutely delightful! As I stepped off the train (which I might add, was an incredibly picturesque vintage train, much to my delight!), the first thing that caught my eye was the stunning, ancient-looking church at the centre of the town. Talk about picture-postcard perfect!
The second thing I noticed? The sheer amount of amazing vintage shops! I'm talking rows and rows of treasures just waiting to be discovered. This little queen is always on the lookout for some unique gems for my wardrobe, and Welling truly delivered!
With a twinkle in my eye and a pep in my step (and, naturally, my sparkly pink tutu, shimmering like a ray of sunshine in the Kent sunshine!), I ventured deeper into this little gem of a town. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon the cutest little ballet studio nestled in the most charming alleyway.
You guys, I couldn't resist popping in for a quick peek! Inside, it was a ballet dancer's paradise - gleaming wooden floors, elegant barres, and of course, an abundance of tutus of every shade and colour. (Although I have to admit, they were sorely lacking in pink, a tragedy in my eyes, if I may say so!)
But wait, there's more! Imagine my joy when I discovered that they were holding an open-air ballet class right there in the charming square outside the studio! How could I resist joining in the fun? I mean, this queen loves her ballet! After all, my obsession with tutus started with the beautiful art form that is ballet!
Now, I might not have been able to hold my own with the real ballet professionals (my leaps are more like tiny hops and my pirouettes resemble something more like a drunken whirl!), but I had a glorious time dancing alongside the talented local ballet students.
It was truly inspiring! And let me tell you, the sunshine just added an extra touch of magic to the experience!
The afternoon rolled on with me stopping for tea at the most quaint, old-world cafe nestled right by the town square, complete with comfy armchairs, delicious cakes, and the friendliest service! I indulged in a spot of gossip (with my fellow tutu enthusiasts, naturally!), followed by a leisurely walk through the town's beautiful park.
As the sun began to dip towards the horizon, it was time for the evening's big event: the performance of the Welling Drama Group's latest production! I'm talking a captivating play, bursting with emotion, laughter, and an entire cast brimming with talent. It truly left me inspired!
And to top it all off, guess who was invited to give a little surprise performance during the interval? That's right, yours truly! Pink Tutu Sparkles took the stage, spinning my tutu under the stage lights and spreading the joy of sparkly pink with every twirl!
Well, Welling, you have truly captured my heart! The charm of this little town, the friendly people, and the overwhelming love for all things artistic made it an absolutely perfect day.
