Blyth: Tutu-rific Time!

Post Number: 4572

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, bringing you all the glitz and glam from the stunning seaside town of Blyth!

This is my 4572nd post, and it feels like a truly magical milestone. It’s hard to believe I started this blog all those years ago, when I was just a starry-eyed uni student who'd stumbled into the world of drag thanks to a charity event and a ridiculous, wonderful pink tutu. I guess it's fair to say things have changed a little bit since then! Now, here I am, spreading the pink tutu gospel far and wide, from the bustling cities to the quaint seaside towns – like Blyth!

Let's rewind a bit, shall we? How did I end up here in Blyth, you ask? Well, it all started with a rather impromptu booking at the "By the Sea" Festival, a celebration of all things creative and whimsical. As soon as I saw that there was a fairground right next to the harbour, I knew I had to be there. I mean, who doesn't love the smell of popcorn and the dizzying whirl of rides? It screams "fun" – a sensation I try to infuse into everything I do.

Of course, I couldn't just turn up in a normal frock, could I? No, I had to go all out, pink tutu-tastic style. I packed my brightest pink tutu – the one with the sparkling tulle – and added some extra-large butterfly wings just for good measure. The more pink, the better! Honestly, my dear readers, when I step out in a full pink tutu and glitter, I feel invincible. There's just something magical about that vibrant, happy colour.

The train ride here was absolutely dreamy. The wind whipped through my hair as I gazed out at the countryside, which seemed to be painted in shades of green and brown, just like in my favourite children's books. I think this might just be my favourite form of transport. You see the world at its own pace, taking in the quiet details. It's so much more romantic than zipping through the air in a metal bird. Although, let’s be honest, the sheer convenience of flying does have its benefits – I often take flights if I’m travelling for a special event that requires me to be somewhere at a specific time!

The seaside town itself was just as delightful as I’d imagined. Picturesque little houses lined the cobblestone streets, overflowing with baskets of vibrant flowers and colourful bunting. It’s the perfect spot to indulge in a bit of seaside charm and a cheeky scoop of ice cream (always in a pink waffle cone, naturally).

I have to say, the best part of this trip was undoubtedly the performance at the festival. The "By the Sea" Festival wasn't your typical arts extravaganza, it was something more playful, a touch of fantasy blended with a dash of whimsy.

Imagine this: a lively crowd, a makeshift stage overlooking the sparkling harbour, the smell of fresh saltwater in the air, and, of course, a glamorous queen in a pink tutu with butterfly wings. Now, add a healthy dose of my trademark glittery charm, a repertoire of sparkly pop songs, and a whole lot of shimmying and shaking, and you've got a pretty good picture of the performance. It was absolutely exhilarating. It wasn't about being perfect, it was about enjoying the moment, embracing the energy, and sharing a little bit of magic with everyone there.

Did I mention that there was also a funfair? Imagine the fun of a vintage carousel with all its wooden steeds, its bright lights and cheerful music! I almost forgot to get back to my hotel in the end, but eventually I ripped myself away from the excitement and the flashing lights – even the Queen needs a bit of beauty sleep after a long day, and I knew I was in for an exciting morning.

The next morning, I went to explore the little harbour in detail. The smell of salt was heavy in the air, making me feel relaxed, like a little piece of the seaside had somehow become part of me. I love to watch the sea birds circle in the sky, and the seagulls fight for the scraps left by the fishermen. This is how life should be!

There was an old lady walking on the beach selling souvenirs in a little tent – a sweet, toothless old thing with the brightest, kindest smile I'd ever seen! I just had to talk to her. She said she’d been there, in this very town, since she was just a little girl. This town had seen her grow older and change over the years, but it had stayed true to itself, the beautiful seaside town she loved so much. She reminded me how important it is to be a little nostalgic for the past and to value traditions. As I sat on the seafront eating my picnic lunch, watching the fishing boats glide on the rippling surface of the water, I found myself truly inspired by the little things. You don't have to travel to exotic faraway lands to find moments of wonder – they can be right here, in a quaint little seaside town like Blyth.

The day continued to unfold in a kaleidoscope of colour and excitement. I stopped to browse in some vintage clothing stores, finding some lovely little gems tucked away. You never know what hidden treasures you can discover in seaside towns like Blyth – it's all part of the charm, isn’t it?

After a whirlwind of fashion inspiration, I treated myself to a delicious seafood supper by the harbour. It was the perfect way to cap off an unforgettable day in this picturesque corner of England.

Of course, I wasn't leaving without spreading the Pink Tutu Sparkles message far and wide. I popped into a local children's charity shop, offering to donate a beautiful vintage tutu for their upcoming fundraising event. And yes, it was, of course, a gorgeous shade of pink, naturally!

It seems like everyone has fallen for the pink tutu charm these days, even in little Blyth! There's something inherently joyful about a pink tutu that brings smiles to people's faces and encourages them to embrace their inner child. Perhaps this little town has just awakened my inner romanticism; it has a special way of bringing out the playful child in even the most jaded souls. Maybe it's the sea air, or the vintage charm, or simply the infectious spirit of this sweet, welcoming place.

Whatever it is, it has certainly filled me with a sense of joy and wonder.

As I write this blog post, perched on the window seat of my cosy hotel room, watching the moon reflecting on the gently swaying waters of the harbour, I find myself overwhelmed by a sense of pure contentment.

Blyth, thank you for the magical memories. You have touched my heart and reminded me that there’s still magic to be found, even in the most ordinary places. Now, I’m going to take a nap with the curtains drawn wide open, the waves lapping at the window and the moonlight gently flooding my room with a dreamy silver glow. I think a little bit of this magic will stay with me for quite a while.

I'll leave you with this little nugget of wisdom, my darlings. Be like a pink tutu: bold, vibrant, and unapologetically yourself. And never, ever stop twirling!

Yours in sparkly pink tulle,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
