Oh my darlings, what a glorious adventure this has been! It's been a while since I've graced your screens with a post, what with the hustle and bustle of prepping for this fantastic trip. It’s time for a dose of Pink Tutu fabulousness and some exciting news!
Yes, dear readers, this fabulous pink tutu wearing queen is heading North! Scotland here I come! And for those of you who know me, you'll understand that when Pink Tutu Sparkles heads North, that means a trip on the train. You see, I’m not like your ordinary, every day drag queens – no, this TutuQueen prefers the grand entrance, a carriage to the ball, a platform from which to show off. (Not a real one, of course! But who doesn’t love a good train journey?)
I love the rhythmic rumble of the engine, the views of the rolling countryside whizzing past, and the thrill of that anticipation when the station announcements cry, "Next Stop, Paisley."
Before we talk about the journey, darlings, let’s talk tutus! You're all gonna have to prepare for this one - we’re talking tartan, sweetie, tartan! It's a bold move, yes, but when you see it all done up, you’ll agree it’s fabulously extra and absolutely screams Pink Tutu Sparkle. Think of it like this, every single shade of pink from dusky blush to flamingo feather, combined with a whole load of emerald green and shimmering gold, and it’ll all be stitched with a smattering of my signature sparkle, a whole load of feathers and just a hint of drama. Oh, darling, I’ve done it again!
And where better to unleash this Look? It’s got to be the city that gave birth to Paisley patterns, the historic Paisley in Scotland! You might not know this about me, but I’ve always been a history buff, and Paisley is absolutely steeped in it! The ancient Abbey, the historic Town Hall, it all calls out to me, to be explored and to share its tales of glamour and grit with the world, dressed up as a sparkly pink ballerina. I’ve already planned to pop down to the beautiful, iconic Abbey and then grab a bite of something delicious at the café inside. And as if it isn’t enough, they even have a festival called ‘Paisley’s Best Kept Secret' with a street food market. So we'll be feasting and dancing our way across the weekend - imagine Pink Tutu Sparkles at the helm, performing in the middle of it all, dazzling everyone in her pink tutu!
Of course, this trip isn’t just about pink tutus and dancing – although, let's be real, that's pretty important. It's about showcasing the magic of drag to a whole new audience! I've already been in touch with some amazing local groups who have invited me to perform and spread my love for all things sparkle, colour, and fabulousness. What can I say, dear reader, Pink Tutu Sparkle has arrived in Paisley, and it’s here to stay for the whole weekend!
And how will this pink-loving ballerina reach the magical kingdom of Scotland? A train journey, of course! No boring car trips, or tedious buses for this fab girl! It’s always got to be something grand and memorable. And nothing says "memorable" like pulling up to the station in a stylishly glamorous pink hat with matching feather boa (with a whole lot of glitter and rhinestones, naturally!) What’s even more exciting, darling, is that we are travelling first class on this voyage. This means, I can spread my legs on the seat, admire the countryside in style, and the wonderful lady with the ticket check will greet me with "good afternoon". It really gets you in the mood for adventure, wouldn’t you agree?
While the trains of the North are an amazing mode of transport for this pink-tutu wearing princess, we can't talk about travelling without giving a shout out to another fabulous form of transportation. Horses, oh horses! I swear those majestic beasts have got to be one of my favourite ways to get about. I love how elegant they look, how gentle they are, and how quickly you can get to a destination. (And, of course, I've gotta love those fluffy tails! They make a great addition to a pink-tutu themed outfit! It all makes for fabulous photographs, trust me). It is a beautiful, powerful and timeless form of travel – so beautiful and powerful, that one of the leading fashion designers has taken this inspiration into their catwalk show - The Balmain Show. Look it up darlings, and don't be surprised to see one, yes, one pink tutu taking the runway. My work really is making an impact.
Talking about impact, you know I just can't go to Paisley without some serious pink-tutu themed shopping therapy! We'll be diving head-first into the Paisley boutique scene, finding the most incredible tutus, the shiniest rhinestones, and of course, more pink than you can shake a feather boa at! Imagine this, darlings: a whole collection of the fluffiest tutus, sequined and glitter-filled gowns, feathered headbands, and all sorts of exciting accessories. Oh darling, there’s so much going on. There’s enough sequins in this collection for the whole of Paisley to glitter with a rainbow of color. You could easily wear a different piece every day of the year and still look fabulously different each time, just as unique and radiant as Pink Tutu Sparkles! And guess what darlings, we will be showing you all of it. There will be an online store!
And it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip without some ballet! Oh, I can’t tell you how excited I am to check out the local ballet scene, there's this incredible performance by a Scottish Dance theatre at a beautifully grand historical theatre. Ballet, drama and history all rolled into one – just dreamy, darling, simply dreamy! It’s all the inspiration I need for my next routine, something that's going to absolutely stun the crowds, something spectacular! Oh, to have that inspiration running through me as I rehearse in my tutu! To create something new, something captivating, something that will truly embody my love for all things pink, twirling, and fantastic! I have no doubt that you are going to love this new routine. This is truly a passion of mine, and Paisley will be the location of it’s inception!
You might know I took to ballet by chance. A while back, in the midst of studying my science degree, I decided to pop into a University charity event. At first, it was just for fun, you know how it is! But as I stood there in that tutu, surrounded by people just as curious and passionate about dance as me, something incredible clicked, darling!
You see, Pink Tutu Sparkles isn’t just a fabulous drag queen - it’s also a passionate scientist. While I love my sequins and sparkles, I can’t deny how much I enjoy spending time in the laboratory, with beakers and test tubes, concocting something amazing. As a science whiz, my expertise is in fabrics - so, let me tell you this darling, there's just nothing like slipping on a perfect tutu that flows just right, with a perfectly shimmering layer of sequins! It is quite something. In the laboratory, we examine everything, but the touch and feel of each material still makes my heart beat. After a hard day's work testing fabric, I'll often find myself dreaming of all sorts of glamorous possibilities for the fabrics I examine! Oh, the tutus I could make with it!
Anyway, it's clear that pink is more than just a colour - it’s a feeling! A feeling of joy, confidence, and, of course, fabulousness! And I’m so thrilled that Paisley is welcoming Pink Tutu Sparkle with open arms. There’s such a powerful energy here – so many incredible stories waiting to be shared.
This whole journey, darling, it's been one long adventure in a world of sparkling pink tutus and colourful adventures. A reminder to each of you, always follow your dreams, wear what you love, and make every day as fabulous as possible. I promise, darling, life just gets more fun that way!
