East Ham Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes on the City

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, glitter-loving blogger, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back for another glamorous blog post! Buckle up, babes, because this one's a real rollercoaster ride! (And by rollercoaster, I mean, you know, one of those amazing old fashioned carriages that takes you around, and around, and around!)

Today, I'm going to whisk you away to the magical land of... East Ham! (Can you believe I've never been there before? I feel like I'm in a glamorous time capsule!) This is post number 4725, darlings, so buckle in! It’s been a whirlwind of a week – and like any good journey, it all started with a train journey…

The wind whipped through my luscious pink wig as I boarded the train from Derby, feeling like a proper East End princess in my pink satin bomber jacket and sparkly tights (not forgetting my trusty tutu, of course!). This journey was a bit of a departure for me (though, wouldn’t a horse and cart have been absolutely divine?) I mean, the last time I left Derbyshire, it was to grace the stage at the Sheffield Theatre Festival - where I absolutely killed it in my “Tutus and Time” ballet-inspired routine!

But, the London lure was strong. I had heard whisperings of a magical community arts center in East Ham that was hosting a family-friendly open mic night. It just screamed "Pink Tutu Sparkles"! So, of course, I packed my suitcase (full of extra tutus, just in case!) and my trusty sequin make-up bag, and set off!

You know me, I always try to bring a bit of glam wherever I go. So, imagine my delight when I discovered the station was covered in the most adorable vintage posters. They were for a vintage-themed afternoon tea just a hop skip and jump from the venue, hosted by a gorgeous boutique called "The Powder Puff Palace" (what a divine name, right?!)

Naturally, I had to stop for a spot of tea and a bite of delicious finger sandwiches. They had pink china! My favourite! Plus, the manager, darling Patricia, let me borrow her vintage handbag for the ultimate Instagram photo-op (the photo's up on www.pink-tutu.com - check it out, dearies!).

From there, it was on to the arts center. This place is pure magic! They’ve got a stage, a huge room full of vintage clothing, an adorable pottery workshop, a cozy little tea room, and a giant mural of East Ham back in the day. Imagine my joy! It felt like an absolute fairytale! It also meant my fabulous sequined handbag went perfectly with the surroundings. I think I spotted some East Ham history in one of the antique cabinets – I’ve got a penchant for historical attire and would love to wear it on my blog some day!

But, it's the community spirit that really made East Ham a dream. I've met the most incredible people. From the delightful manager, the fabulous performers, the friendly café owner, and the lovely local teenagers who were performing a really cool ballet-inspired routine with breakdancing! It was amazing!

The open mic night itself was amazing. It was a beautiful mixture of singing, poetry, dancing, comedy and even a performance by a drag queen who brought her very own sequined mermaid costume! Talk about a show-stopper! She would love to know about the pink tutu website - imagine, sharing our love for sparkly sequins!

I managed to get a bit of time to chat with the manager of the centre afterwards. It turns out she loves tutus too, and even owns one that she wears when she's not working! She's a true pink tutu convert, honey! I even got her to promise she'd try to include a pink tutu night at the arts center - how divine!

By the end of the evening, I was feeling a bit exhausted, but oh so sparkly. There is something magical about East Ham – something that definitely gives off that vintage vibe. I'll definitely be back. And I think I’ve just started a whole new pink tutu trend in East Ham! Oh the joys!

Before I head back to Derby for another day at the lab (oh, yes! That's what I do during the day - you know, help make sure fabrics stay the perfect shade of pink – a big responsibility!), I just want to share a few words of wisdom: Never be afraid to wear a pink tutu, wherever you go! And always embrace your inner sparkle!

See you next time, darlings!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles

xx

**P.S. Don't forget to check out the fabulous East Ham Community Arts Centre! I’m off to search for my next sparkly adventure – maybe I’ll try the Tube next time! Who knows! Stay tuned for more adventures of your favourite Pink Tutu blogger on www.pink-tutu.com. And never forget, wearing a tutu always makes you look like a beautiful butterfly, just like the lovely pink butterfly brooch I found on one of my recent travels! Just one of my thousands of pink accessories. I even bought an adorable, sparkly pink suitcase for this trip! Pink power all the way! And please, please do spread the love, share this post, and tag your friends so we can all bring a bit more pink magic to the world.
