Hello my darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, bringing you the 4732nd post on my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! I’m currently feeling fabulous in Crewe, a town with an air of vintage charm that I’m absolutely loving! This is my first time in this lovely little corner of Cheshire, and it's already making my tutu twirl with delight! I absolutely love the journey from Derbyshire. You know me, I'm a sucker for a good train journey, or even better, a lovely horse-drawn carriage - though I wouldn't mind riding side-saddle on a real horse like a proper Victorian lady if the occasion arises!
Crewe's railway history is what initially drew me to this lovely town. I must say, my passion for all things pink and twirly blossomed in a pretty unlikely place. I was just your average, studious lad, busy with my science degree at university. Life was pretty lab-coat and microscope until, one day, I found myself volunteering at a charity event where they dared me to try on a tutu. Now, you know how the story goes, right? That single pink-hued tulle explosion on my little scientist frame completely changed my life.
From then on, I knew my destiny lay on a stage with glitter, feathers, and of course, the most fabulous pink tutu ever! So here I am, performing at the local arts centre in Crewe. It's such a lovely space with warm, welcoming staff. It's a venue perfect for any wannabe ballerinas and fabulous divas in the area. They have the best lighting for our photos, too - so expect a ton of snaps to be popping up on my socials throughout my stay!
But I’m not just here for the shows, darling. Crewe has a wonderful community, and I’ve been treated like royalty! From the charming people in the vintage clothing shop I visited earlier to the wonderful shop assistants at the local bakery (who practically worshipped my pink tulle!) everyone is so friendly and genuinely interested in my travels and what I'm up to! They’ve been so complimentary of my tutu, saying I look like a beautiful pink candy floss cloud! (I might just be taking that one to heart as a future character title.)
Speaking of things sweet, my lovely trip here wouldn't be complete without indulging in Crewe’s delectable local treats. I discovered the most heavenly little cafe today that specialises in pink cakes and treats. I devoured a magnificent raspberry pink cupcake, so beautiful I felt bad eating it, and the lady even served it with a dainty pink macaroon to top it off. My friend Alex says that in some cultures a pink cupcake like that is seen as a symbol of good luck and friendship. Imagine! Even the pastries here are making me feel like a queen! I’m already planning my next trip to Crewe – hopefully, I'll get to see the gorgeous floral displays of the annual Cheshire Show while I’m here!
Tonight, after my performance, I'm off to indulge in some fabulous dinner theater. This tiny local venue is known for their production of 'Romeo and Juliet.' Of course, you already know my thoughts on Romeo and Juliet – if Juliet’s got it going on, then there’s no question about the fabulousness! I'm sure Romeo, well, maybe a tad more boring in that drab costume! Let’s just say he won't be standing a chance with the glamour queen herself on the scene. (Sorry not sorry, Romeo!)
The stage manager invited me to join them for a meet and greet with the cast! He loves the tutu look! Who knows, maybe I can convince them to add some colour to Romeo's wardrobe... pink has never been more handsome! After the performance, we'll head to a local pub for a post-show revelry and of course, I will be sure to indulge in my favourite bubbly! And who knows, I might even show off my dance moves – in my pink tutu of course! (After all, who can resist a twirl, a twirl, and a little bit of shimmy in a pink tulle dream?)
