Now, let's be honest, when someone says "Llanelli," you don't immediately think "glamorous," do you? You probably picture rugby matches and sheep. But darling, Llanelli's about to get a whole lot pinker, thanks to your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles!
This week has been an absolute whirlwind of travel! I don't just mean travel, though. We're talking the kind of travel that requires glitter cannons, a whole lotta lip-syncing, and enough pink tulle to cover a whole rugby pitch!
I'm actually writing this from the very glamorous (and very pink!) dressing room at the Llanelli Little Theatre, where I just performed a set that would make even the most seasoned drag queen blush! It was an absolute triumph. The crowd was electric, and even the stage manager gave me a thumbs up! (Bless his cotton socks, that's what they call it when they're really impressed, right?).
So, how did I end up here? Let's rewind the glitter tape a little bit...
This whole Llanelli adventure started with a train ride, my absolute favourite mode of transportation! It's so wonderfully romantic, don't you think? As the train chugged past the countryside, I was already concocting ideas for the performance - something bright, bold, and of course, pink! After all, a bit of sparkle is the perfect cure for a dull train journey.
Upon arriving in Llanelli, I had to embrace my inner-tourist (okay, the only touristy thing I did was snag some delicious Welsh cakes and take a selfie by the rugby stadium, I’ll admit I don’t do “typical” tourist stuff. No offense, rugby fans). The atmosphere here is truly enchanting! People are friendly, the weather is... well, it's British weather, but with a twinkle in its eye, if you know what I mean.
Then came the performance! And oh darling, the stage was practically calling my name in a glamorous whisper! My new sequined "Pink Flamingo" costume stole the show (I'll let you know where to buy it in a future blog post!). And let's not forget the choreography – my ballet teacher would be proud! Every pirouette was a triumph, every high kick was a spectacle, every grand jeté was... well, just fabulous!
You know, when I'm on stage, everything just fades away – the world melts into a rainbow of pink, glitter, and pure, unadulterated joy. And honestly, what more could you ask for in life than a stage filled with pink tulle and the sound of your audience's cheers?
After the show, I felt that post-performance energy that’s only achieved by rocking it in a tutu! I did a little shopping in a local vintage boutique (found a vintage, almost-pink tutu, perfect for a costume makeover), and met a group of friendly drag queens who offered me some excellent Welsh tips.
