Hello my lovely Tutus!
It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another sparkly update from the world of fabulousness! Today's adventure took me all the way to the beautiful town of Frome, and let me tell you, darling, this place is a treasure trove of delights!
Now, let's get this out of the way: how amazing are these new feather boas I snagged from a charming little shop on the way in? They're literally shimmering with the most gorgeous emerald green, which just screamed "Pink Tutu Sparkles" to me! Honestly, you haven't truly lived until you've wrapped yourself in a magnificent boa while staring into a full-length mirror, your reflection giggling back at you in all your dazzling glory!
Anyway, where were we? Ah, yes, Frome! Let me paint you a picture. Imagine a town bustling with independent shops, bursting with character and quirk. Each shop window seemed to be an artistic explosion of colours, textures, and creativity. And speaking of textures, did I mention that this town boasts a fabulous market with the most delicious selection of fresh cheeses I've ever seen? It was like a creamy dreamland!
But what truly made my trip to Frome a truly special occasion was the performance I had the privilege of performing in at the gorgeous Frome Town Hall. Now, let me tell you, these Victorian halls are absolutely magnificent! With high ceilings, ornate detailing, and even a lovely chandelier, I felt like I had stepped straight out of a ballet set! It was absolutely perfect for my show, "A Sprinkle of Sparkles," a delightful mix of tutu-tastic choreography, glittery song-and-dance numbers, and, of course, plenty of sparkly anecdotes from my journey to becoming your favourite pink-loving drag queen.
Now, let's get back to those delicious cheeses, shall we? It was a bit difficult focusing on the interview after the performance with the lovely local reporter. (Did I tell you my favourite bit was being able to take a photo of my fabulous outfit on the "Frome" welcome sign on my way out?! It’s perfect for Instagram – just don't forget to tag me, #PinkTutuSparkles! ) Afterward, a very delightful, yet slightly embarrassed, group of gentleman from a local men's club approached me. We talked about my work, life as a drag queen and they were more interested in the cheeses! And the real secret is – who isn’t?
And speaking of secretes… what is that you're thinking, love? That this bubbly, girly girl is really a science geek by day?! That's right darling, I might sparkle and shimmer at night, but my real identity - Alex - is a lab tech working for the amazing (and very pink) textile testing company! I tell you, being in the lab by day allows me to dream up all the most fantastic ideas for new outfits by night! I'm working on a very special sequin-based material right now for my upcoming stage show, "Glitterstorm." Just wait until you see the colours, love!
My love for all things pink and glittery is what brought me to this magical world of drag. You see, back when I was a Derbyshire-born science student (yes, they DO have scientists in the Peaks!) my passion for dancing landed me at a university ballet class where we had to make and donate a new costume. You know the story - one pink tutu later, and I was totally smitten.
Speaking of smitten, this whole travel thing is turning out to be quite an exciting journey. I was telling someone at the show the other day about how I’m starting to fall for a few lovely towns and the gorgeous rolling countryside. The truth is I just can’t seem to make my mind up on if I prefer getting from town to town on the train or via horse and carriage! So romantic – both, in different ways!
