It's time for another fabulous blog post! This is post number 4885, and I'm SO excited to share my adventures with you all today. 😉💖
Now, let me tell you, this week has been absolutely bonkers! You see, darling, I've been swanning around the charming streets of Highbury! 🦢🏘️
You know how much I adore a good train journey - the gentle rumble of the tracks, the chance to admire the scenery, and, of course, a cheeky glass of prosecco in the buffet car! 🥂🍾 This journey was no different - except that this time, I was lucky enough to encounter a group of delightful ladies wearing... you guessed it... pink tutus! They were so kind and excited to chat, and we ended up exchanging a whole lot of tips on tutu-making and the best shops for sparkly sequins! ✨💎
Anyway, darlings, Highbury is absolutely delightful! The cobblestone streets are picture perfect, and I had a grand time window shopping for all things glittery and glamorous. 💎💖 But of course, a day in Highbury isn't complete without a visit to the famous theatre, now, is it? The ballet performance was exquisite! A whirlwind of grace and elegance! It truly inspired me, you see. 🩰💖
After the performance, I made a beeline for the lovely cafe next door. It had a pink-hued awning, which was a sign of good things to come. As soon as I spotted the table with the perfectly positioned mirror (and oh my goodness, it reflected the perfect amount of sparkles!), I knew it was meant to be! 💅✨ And just like that, I whipped out my favourite lipgloss and did a little touch-up, because darlings, one must always be ready for a glamorous selfie, even in a charming little cafe like this! 💖💄
Of course, the highlight of my visit to Highbury had to be the horse-drawn carriage ride! Oh my gosh, darlings! The gentle clop of the hooves on the cobblestones, the fresh air whipping through my perfectly styled hair, and the dazzling view from up high! 🐎✨ It was absolutely magical!
So, my dears, Highbury has truly won a special place in my heart! 💖 This sweet little town is like a dream come true. From its cobblestone streets to its beautiful theatres and, of course, its unwavering embrace of all things pink, it's no wonder this town is a haven for lovers of the fabulous! 😉✨

It’s been a little while since my last travel blog post. I've been focusing on my work as a scientist at the textile lab - my day job! It can be quite demanding but I love being a part of pushing boundaries and improving fabric quality. But when the sun sets, well, it's time to get sparkly! My real name is Alex, and I grew up in Derbyshire, just your average scientist by day and queen of the stage by night! It’s not always easy to keep those worlds apart, but I make it work. You see, I kind of fell into drag by accident, you know. It was charity night at the university’s ballet club and we were all getting ready to have some fun. We were encouraged to put on different outfits and make each other laugh. I slipped into that gorgeous, shimmering pink tutu... and the rest, as they say, is history! 💖
Now I love performing drag! It really helps me tap into my more expressive side, it gives me so much energy and helps me find my true inner sparkle. The whole thing reminds me why I love dancing, performing and the theatre so much! Ballet is so important to me, ever since I was a child, there was nothing more amazing than seeing those beautiful ballerinas pirouetting on stage. Of course, when I put on a tutu it’s different, you see. It’s about being over-the-top, glamorous and fabulously outrageous! You won’t find me attempting those graceful grand jetés, it's about letting loose and celebrating the beauty of it all - the music, the lights, the outfits! Sometimes I wish my fellow scientists at the lab could see me perform. I reckon it would help them loosen up a bit! 😜
Being able to make a living out of my passion is such a blessing, my dears! My shows allow me to keep my passion for tutus and ballet going! Every week, it’s different - from a tiny bar in London to a fancy fair in Cornwall, my shows are everywhere. It’s not always easy, especially finding the right venue - sometimes I have to travel quite far, so being on the train so often helps!
I’m still working out how to turn my love for ballet and travel into one. You see, I dream of one day owning my own carriage to use for travel! It’d be the perfect way to arrive at all those fabulous events. That, of course, will require a few more dazzling performances - I hope to use the money from these performances to fund that special project! But it’s okay, darling, I’ve got lots of time, it’s the journey, not the destination that matters, right? 😉

My dear friend Chloe from Bristol is going to be guest blogging this weekend. She is a lovely drag queen and the biggest fan of ballet street performance - she actually managed to perform at a ballet street festival last month.
