Paris, oh Paris! Where to even begin?! As a self-proclaimed tutu aficionado, I simply had to grace the streets of this fashion capital with my presence. It's the home of haute couture, after all, and it just feels right to channel my inner ballet ballerina when strolling down the Champs-Élysées. 💃
I always like to try and use sustainable methods of travel when I can. This trip was no exception. The Eurostar is a truly fabulous way to travel, and this journey certainly didn't disappoint. I treated myself to a first class carriage, comfy and luxurious, just like a true diva should travel. I sipped a spot of English breakfast tea and even caught up on some much needed beauty sleep, which as every woman knows, is a real treat when travelling. Honestly, who could resist a good snooze? Especially after packing those fabulous pink tutus. They just need to be carried with so much care. 😊
The Eiffel Tower – my goodness! What a spectacle. Sparkling like a gigantic jewel against the dusky evening sky, it truly made my heart beat a little faster. The Eiffel Tower is such a striking image and of course, I had to pay it a visit. You can find photos of me doing the classic Parisian 'arms akimbo pose' under its elegant lattice work. All hail the Eiffel Tower, truly a feat of architecture that transcends time!
Now, for the fashion! Ooh la la, Paris is a shopping paradise. My bank account may cry a little (just a teeny bit, of course!), but it’s all worth it for the pink perfection I managed to haul back. Imagine all the beautiful, delicate, girly, and I mean, absolutely PINK, outfits I picked up! 🛍
I've got some gorgeous frocks – think lace, frills and more glitter than a disco ball, naturally. And then there's the tulle – oh the tulle. The fabric shops in Paris had my senses reeling, my dears. I practically lived off pain au chocolat and croissants, but I swear it was only because I was so busy choosing from such an incredible selection of tulle! And all in every shade of pink you could imagine, with shimmering threads and beads woven in to give it that extra sparkle. You see, Paris gets me, it just gets me! 🇫🇷
Naturally, I took my trusty sewing machine, which thankfully fits into a suitcase beautifully. Back in my little flat, it’s been a real case of "sewn & gone"! After I got my hair and make up just so of course. You’ve gotta have the look on point for when your fabric choices arrive.
Speaking of make up, oh, my dears, let’s talk beauty! I discovered a fantastic little store in Montmartre that sold the most amazing make up, glitters, lipsticks, you name it! Honestly, it was a makeup paradise. They even had pink glitter – how perfect?!. I got a handful of shades, which I can’t wait to show off. Oh, to be so adorned in pink-hued, sparkling loveliness, with a bright pink feather boa flowing out behind me! 💋
There are also the fabulous cabaret shows that Paris is famous for. Let’s just say, sequins, feathers and pink tutus galore – everything this drag queen's heart desires! A night out at a cabaret show is truly a Parisian must-do for anyone. And of course, I just had to try one myself. You can check out the pics on Instagram - and oh my, I looked good! But seriously, the show was fab, from the costumes to the singing and the dance moves, all the stars were totally captivating.
Speaking of captivating… Ballet, dear friends! You know I'm obsessed with all things tutu, but even I was wowed by the beauty and precision of the ballet de l'Opéra de Paris performance I went to. It was pure artistry, each ballerina swirling and leaping on stage like an angel with ballet magic at their fingertips! Seeing all the elegance of a classic ballet performance is definitely one of the things to add to any itinerary for a fantastic trip to Paris.
Of course, a trip to Paris wouldn't be complete without a delicious croissant or two! In fact, I was indulging in a buttery pastry on a café terrace one day when a Parisian woman noticed my gorgeous pink tutu. Well, you know how it is – I simply had to make it a pink moment. So I had a mini chat with her and she ended up suggesting that I visit some incredible boutiques, with beautiful vintage items, and even some modern designer pieces! This fabulous Parisian had some amazing advice about how to find just the perfect things and I had the most fabulous day browsing and buying, and talking all things fashion! It felt as if I'd made a friend, and I’m not just saying that. She made me realise that sometimes you just need to say, “hello,” because you never know what kind of wonderful connections you'll make. 😊
And I can't end this post without a little Parisian wisdom, my dears! As you know, my ultimate dream is for everyone to embrace the pink tutu! In my experience, the Parisians are not scared of a little extra glamour in their lives. 💅 And they do know a thing or two about looking chic. I think we can learn a thing or two about the art of fabulousness from them. My dear readers, you'll be shocked by how much you're able to do when you have a pink tutu, just a pinch of glitter and some good Parisian charm up your sleeve. 😉 Remember that when you are in the city of love, fashion, and pink tutus just have some fun! ✨
This trip to Paris was magical, dears! I can’t wait to head back as soon as I can! But, you know, a girl has got to go where she’s needed most… especially if the event is being hosted at the most charming English fair in Derbyshire – with a pink-tutu theme. Oh yes! I do love a bit of whimsy in my life. Now I’m back in the lab and dreaming of Paris and all that glittering magic.
