Let me tell you, darlings, I love a good journey, and this trip to Chelmsford was absolutely divine. I took the scenic route, of course, travelling by train. I adore the rhythmic clickety-clack of the rails and the charming countryside whizzing by. It was a fabulous way to start the trip, and gave me ample time to primp and prep, because, well, a queen's gotta look her best!
Now, I can't tell you about a trip to Chelmsford without mentioning the gorgeous cathedral. Imagine a giant, majestic, white, fluffy meringue – that's what it looked like, absolutely divine! The whole town oozed historical charm, and I practically skipped through the streets like a little sugar plum fairy, my pink tulle twirling in the summer breeze.
But enough about the pretty sights! Let's talk about what I love most: performing! Chelmsford had some fab venues, each one more beautiful than the next, perfect for showcasing a bit of Pink Tutu Sparkles magic. I took to the stage like a flamingo to a pink lake, and my performances were, if I may say so myself, absolutely fabulous. I even snuck in a bit of ballet inspired street performance, twirling my pink tutus in the market square - the cheers were a delicious dose of dopamine!

Oh, I even found the perfect pink dress at a quirky vintage shop, adorned with sequins and lace, a real masterpiece! It's now the pièce de résistance of my ever-growing collection, a perfect reminder of my lovely trip to Chelmsford.

Day Job: Science in Pink? You bet! My day job is fascinating and surprising - I'm a textile scientist! I analyze the fabrics we wear and develop new and exciting textures, dyes and processes. So, it’s a little like a scientist, but with more glittery fabrics! I even use my scientific expertise to find the most fabulous pink tulle for my costumes - I want the perfect blend of softness, sparkle, and twirl-worthiness. It's not always pink in the lab, of course, but my hidden pink outfits are always ready for any unexpected drag performances!
Night Job: Turning the Stage Pink! As Pink Tutu Sparkles, the nights are full of magical transformation! I’ll admit, putting on makeup and dressing up takes time - hours, in fact! The hair, the costume, the sequins - it's a whole process! But it's worth every second when you feel that spark, that moment of pure confidence and empowerment that transforms Alex into Pink Tutu Sparkles! I practice every week, so that my movements are seamless, every pirouette and jeté flawlessly executed! I even took ballet classes to learn more techniques, incorporating ballet into my performance - it’s the perfect way to twirl with even more elegance and grace.
Finding the Balance: It's true, it's a juggling act between work and my passion for drag. Some days I wake up with an overflowing agenda: laboratory meetings, textile conferences, pink tulle research - but also auditioning, planning performances, booking gigs! Sometimes I feel a bit like a whirlwind, but somehow, I always manage to find that magical balance. After all, the key is to be flexible, be organised, and most importantly, be confident in yourself!
Inspiration, Always! I find inspiration everywhere, from nature's colours, the shimmer of sunlight on a river, and the majestic flow of a ballet dancer’s movement, even from the amazing stories I read in books. For me, pink tutus are more than a costume – they are a symbol of empowerment, self-expression, and embracing the extraordinary in all of us!
