Streatham Sparkle: Post Number 5022

Oh my darlings,

Can you believe it's September already? It feels like just yesterday I was shimmying my way through the summer sun in a fabulous floral tutu, and now the leaves are turning all golden and brown. I must say, the changing seasons really do make me feel like changing my tutu colour too. I am just SO tempted by a lovely fiery red right now - imagine me doing a dramatic "Swan Lake" inspired performance in a long red tutu, with a fiery red hairpiece to match... it just oozes autumnal sophistication!

But anyway, that's a whole post in itself for another time. Today we're back to reality, with a trip up to London for my lovely little show in Streatham. Streatham is an absolutely lovely place, you know. I first visited last summer to do a charity fundraiser at the Streatham Summer Fair. It was absolutely divine, full of vibrant stalls and amazing local businesses, plus all those friendly, fun-loving Streatham peeps who adore pink tutus (even if they're only willing to admit to it after a glass of prosecco!).

The only downside to this gorgeous town, which I am going to tell you now in the utmost of confidence - there's NO decent public transport. I tried getting the train up - don't get me started on Southern Trains! I almost booked a horse and cart - wouldn't that be an entrance?!- but then my gorgeous agent, darling Poppy, advised me against it. “Pink Tutu,” she warned, “a horse and cart will only be considered "extra" when you’re at Ascot in full bloom! In Streatham? Just call a taxi darling!"

Poppy’s right of course - sometimes you have to trust a true Drag Queen Pro like my beloved Poppy.

After a quick taxi, we are at the venue - a sweet little bar and cafe with the most darling wooden beams - so quaint, very English!

When I saw my dressing room, I was in utter shock! It was decorated like a “Sweet Charity” stage, which made me giggle! They'd thought of everything- sparkles galore, fluffy pink carpet (I think they raided the local charity shop for those!). It really was like being in a wonderland of pink, which I found most exciting!

My little dance practice - well, a gentle warming up for the stage - turned into a ballet class for all. It’s impossible not to make friends with people when you’re wearing a pink tutu and practicing a lovely little twirl sequence! In the time it took to get ready, everyone in the bar seemed to join in - the bartenders even whipped out their sparkly stilettos for some improvisational dance moves!

What can I say about my set? It was pure Pink Tutu Sparkle, my darlings! The whole set revolved around this enchanting, uplifting feeling. Think “Love at First Sight”, think a dazzling princess fairy tale ballet - my lovely tutu collection and I took over that entire stage.

Of course, I am an expert in turning my performance space into an ethereal wonderland of femininity - who else could say “I was born in a tutu” and get away with it?! It truly is about finding your own sense of style. If you feel "extra" - so be it. Just enjoy it, let it shine, and don't let anyone ever dull your sparkle!

After a beautiful set with all the sparkly glamour and graceful steps you can possibly imagine, the show was done! I took the most darling selfie of myself (obviously) with the entire audience all lined up, looking ready for some good times!

That night, back in my hotel, I wrote down all the glorious bits from the Streatham experience for you lovely people. The energy of Streatham - all the little details that go into making a performance unforgettable - all of this magic was something I really wanted to share with you. It's about showing up as yourself - authentic, fierce and unafraid.

Right now I feel like my inner ballerina is on cloud 9 - because yes, Streatham was a roaring success! This is “Pink Tutu Sparkles”, in her glory - an uplifting message that we should all go out there, dance, shine, and just live life in our own wonderful way. And it doesn't matter where you're from or how big your dreams are - I guarantee you that a little bit of magic always appears when you’re wearing a fabulous pink tutu!

Until next time, my darlings, stay glamorous.
