Hello lovelies! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! And oh my goodness, get ready for a truly sparkling post – because today's adventure was a dream come true. This is post number 5062 on my journey to spread the pink tutu gospel to every corner of the globe!
Before we even set off on our travels (on the glorious train from Derby, with a carriage full of sequins and shimmering pink tulle) I just had to confess something... I've had a long-held love affair with Wales! It’s the mountains, the greenery, and the fairytale-like valleys – but also, for some reason, the name Merthyr Tydfil just rolls off the tongue. Seriously, don't you just feel your voice all magically become this grand theatrical "Merthyr Tydfil" when you say it?! So, this whole trip felt a little bit of a homecoming for me.
And of course, what's a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a proper shopping spree beforehand?! This time I opted for a glorious silk floral print blouse (which will be making a surprise appearance at the performance tonight!). Seriously though, who else needs more pink silk blouses in their life?!
The journey was pretty magical, all sun dappled fields, sheep dotted meadows, and a little touch of romance in the air. Did you know sheep are super cuddly animals?! My carriage partner, the fabulous Fiona (who just happened to be a serious pink tutu enthusiast, we're kindred spirits, ladies!) , and I spent the time whispering about the show and debating the best kind of pink feather boa to accessorise the look – there’s a good argument to be made for the big and dramatic here in Wales, you know!
Now, the stage – oh, it was so much more than I imagined! The hall, this little gem hidden in a backstreet, was brimming with local charm. I’ve got to say, you just can't beat those old wooden dance floors. They hold a history, an energy. Just the perfect stage for my kind of performance. The backdrop was the biggest single floral wall you have ever seen in your life – all those roses!
And when I say a dream come true, you have to trust me, babes. My show went down like an absolute storm. I’ve never seen people have this much fun, especially at the ballet-street-performance-inspired finale! They screamed “Go on, Sparkles, you’ve got this!," which just set the energy alight, if you know what I mean?! And those dance moves always land just that little bit more with an encouraging crowd behind you!
I managed to sell out ALL my Pink Tutu Sparkles branded tote bags and enough Sparkle's Secret lip gloss to last until next year! Everyone is literally obsessed with the shade, "Pink Champagne Kiss" - seriously, there's not enough to go around! After the show, I did some proper meet-and-greets – it's so important to get that audience interaction in. And a few fans even requested “Pink Tutu Sparkles” signatures for their Pink Tutu Sparkles Pink Tutu Sparkles... well, you know what they call a big bag of pink tutus, right? You can guess it, darling! You could practically feel the magic, that little bit of joy you get from seeing something special come to life!
It's hard not to fall in love with Wales! And not just for the fairytale villages and ruins! They know how to throw a proper party. My biggest highlight? A late night after show pub meet-up, in a gorgeous historic building with roaring log fires! (And, ok, a rather handsome local guy who wanted to know if the Pink Tutu Sparkles glitter actually was real, apparently they use fake glitter here – gasp!).
It was just another brilliant day, an opportunity to show that, well, being your most fabulous self can truly happen anywhere, no matter where life takes you.
I hope that my experiences resonate with you all. That's really why I write this blog – to inspire others to step outside of their comfort zones.
