Sparkling in Spalding: TutuQueen’s Big Day Out (Blog Post #5105)

Hello my lovely TutuQueens! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another fabulous blog post from the road! This time I’m dazzling the charming market town of Spalding, and trust me, darlings, this one is a real glitter bomb.

As a fellow traveler of style, you know I like to plan ahead – a sprinkle of sequins and a well-placed feather boa just won't do themselves, you know? So I grabbed my trusty travel essentials: a rainbow suitcase overflowing with tulle and a hand-painted pink tutu, my comfy ballet shoes, and of course, a carefully chosen collection of lipglosses! For the journey, I chose a sleek high-speed train. The sleek design reminded me of a beautifully crafted ballett slipper! I love being able to watch the countryside glide by while dreaming up new routines!

When it came to making an entrance in Spalding, my usual dramatic reveal had to be scaled back – darling, finding a suitable theatrical backdrop amidst a bustling market can be quite a challenge! I made a compromise and emerged in a stunning two-tone pink and lilac tutu that absolutely sang under the crisp winter light.

You see, my dearest TutuQueens, spreading the joy of tutus doesn’t always need a stage – sometimes, it’s about the everyday. The kind lady in the bakery (who looked fabulous, darling, in her lime-green puffer jacket!) couldn't contain her glee at my entrance! We had a proper laugh – the sort that makes your soul sparkle. Then I popped in for a spot of afternoon tea with the girls, which always calls for a spot of pink-tinged teacake – we even debated whether a croissant is more ballet slipper-shaped or a bun! (Personally, I’m all about the ballet slipper vibes).

But darling, what's a trip to a market town without some cultural exploration? I went to see a performance by a local theatre company – a delightful take on "Sleeping Beauty." Naturally, I couldn't resist adding my own sprinkle of sparkle to the proceedings with a mini-tutu performance during the intermission, to a roar of applause! It's these unexpected, heartfelt moments that truly make travelling a fulfilling experience! My favourite moment was definitely after the show, when a young boy – who I swear could have been my long-lost twin – approached me with the most beautiful sparkling silver unicorn-shaped toy, a delighted smile spreading across his face! "I saw you perform!", he gushed, "It was just like watching a real fairy princess!" Darlings, if there's one thing this TutuQueen adores, it’s sharing the magic of sparkles and rainbows!

And you know what, the love of sparkle seems to be truly catching! Everywhere I go, there seems to be a blossoming sense of tutu-tastic enthusiasm! I even saw a few shoppers sporting pink accessories! This gave me a lovely sense of validation. It is one thing to admire from afar; it's another to see someone fully commit to the TutuQueen lifestyle. My heart swelled with pride and I wanted to scream “It's not a phase, mum!”.

While we’re on the topic of fabulous style, I must share a little fashion update: I recently bought a stunning black feather boa for an upcoming performance and let's just say, my dear TutuQueens, it adds a new dimension of flair to the tutu wardrobe! It's giving "vintage glam meets modern-day magic"! But I digress – back to my adventure in Spalding!

The thing about travelling as a TutuQueen, is the power of discovery. Just because a town seems smaller than, say, London or Manchester, doesn't mean there’s not a world of magic and possibility waiting to be found. Spalding, a hidden gem, with its lovely local charm and genuine warmth, was a real highlight of this little tutu escapade.

Now, before I go, let’s just talk about tomorrow! Darling, I'll be in Derbyshire – my home county – and as you all know, this means an afternoon at the Derby Theatre with a show-stopping TutuQueen-worthy production! You just know this will involve a whole lot of glitz and glam – be sure to follow along on Instagram, where I'll be sharing all the sparkling details!

Stay sparkly, stay beautiful, and until next time, dear TutuQueens, keep dancing!

Pink Tutu Sparkles, (Aka. Alex)
