Ecclesfield! Oh Darling, This Place Is A Pink Tutu Paradise!

Hello, my lovely lovelies! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you post number 5116, live from the most fabulous place on earth - Ecclesfield!

This little gem of a town is just brimming with pink tutu potential, and I’m practically bursting with excitement to share it all with you! You know me, always chasing that perfect pink tutu moment, and Ecclesfield is proving to be a real treat!

As you know, my fabulous journey to wear a pink tutu to every town and corner of the world has become my raison d’etre. And let me tell you, after taking the train down from my Derbyshire stomping ground, Ecclesfield feels like the most exciting adventure!

Just picture this: arriving in Ecclesfield after a beautiful train journey (yes, the train really does bring out the inner glamour girl!) and instantly finding myself surrounded by some truly delightful local businesses.

First up was “Frou-Frou Fashions”, a darling little boutique just bursting with fabulous frocks. They had EVERYTHING a tutu-loving queen could dream of! From sequins galore to feathery boas that could tickle your fancy, it was a total haven for any fabulous fashionista. My darling friend and stylist, the fabulous Miss Sparkleboots (she’s a real talent!), and I managed to squeeze ourselves into a couple of changing rooms and had a ball trying on the most fabulous gowns and glittery accessories. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Pink Tutu Sparkles visit without adding some sparkly tutu details! We bought some gorgeous pink sequined boleros and a stunning feather boa with tiny pink glitter - just divine!

I swear, there was a little bit of magic in the air! I even had the most darling moment while rummaging through a rack of sparkly bags - imagine my surprise when I found this teeny tiny tutu with tiny pink ribbons. Talk about a stroke of fate, right? It’s going to look fabulous on my pink sparkly fan, adding a touch of my signature style.

After that delightful experience, Miss Sparkleboots and I took a well-deserved break at a delightful tea room called "The Tipsy Teacup". You’d be surprised how good their selection of tea cakes and scones is – especially alongside the delightful Earl Grey! And, imagine my joy when I discovered they have a secret tutu collection in their basement! Imagine my joy when we popped down there and they revealed rows of fluffy tutus! The proprietor, the sweet Mrs. Treacle, explained she made the tutus to cheer people up during lockdown. Well, they definitely did cheer me up! Of course, we spent some time dancing around the basement with a cuppa in hand. And then, the truly extraordinary thing happened – they let us take home a few tutus for our pink-tutu loving friends back in Derbyshire! It was absolutely lovely. I know my friends back home will be thrilled with their new additions, all thanks to Ecclesfield's wonderful hospitality.

The rest of our day in Ecclesfield was a blur of enchantment. We popped into “The Silver Needle,” a quirky little haberdashery, and snagged some incredible ribbons to create new custom-made hair bows for my next performance. There were literally hundreds of shades of pink ribbons, it was impossible to choose! Of course, we got a couple of each, just because!

As the day started to fade, we wandered over to the beautiful local theatre, The Regal, and caught a marvelous performance of "The Nutcracker." Honestly, it was as enchanting as watching a sparkling snowflake fall in the middle of winter, which, coincidentally, I just might incorporate into my next pink tutu number!

By the time the evening fell, I was ready to retreat back to my favourite little spot – “The Queen’s Quarters” a local B&B run by the most adorable couple, a sweet retired ballerina called Brenda and her equally-enchanted husband Harold. Brenda told me the cutest story about how they fell in love at a ballet competition – can you believe it? Talk about fairytale romance! Their place is so wonderfully decorated, with lace curtains, pink flowers, and - yes you guessed it - fluffy, pink tutus hanging everywhere. And just before I drifted off to sleep, Brenda gave me a beautiful hand-knitted pink tutu, complete with sparkly little sequins. What a delightful surprise! It's going straight onto my dressmaking stand tomorrow, ready to be added to one of my signature sparkly creations!

Ecclesfield, you are my pink tutu wonderland! I left my little pink-tutu footprint on this charming little town. Every shop I visited has a new pink tutu and sparkly piece for their collection! That's the thing about my fabulous pink tutu travels, I spread the pink tutu magic to every town I go.

As you all know, I spend every day searching for the most extraordinary experiences and unique places to take my sparkly pink tutu adventure. Ecclesfield, you have captured my heart!

And to you, my fabulous followers, my mission is to empower you all to step into your own personal style and embrace your unique pink-tutu magic. Whether you are dancing at a local ballet school, exploring the great outdoors or just walking down the street, know that a pink tutu is a symbol of love, self-expression, and above all, pure, unadulterated joy!

Remember, wearing a pink tutu is about expressing your inner fabulous self. There is something truly magical about taking that step in a pink tutu! It’s a message to the world that you're a confident and empowered individual! You’ve got this!

I'll leave you now, but only for a bit, as I've got another incredible adventure to get back to. Next week, I’ll be riding my trusty steed (yes, I bought myself a pink-tutu themed, well, lets just say slightly decorated, horse, for those times when train travel is not available, she really is my perfect match for a trip into town. Anyway, next week I’ll be taking a pink tutu ride up north!

Stay fabulous my darlings and never, ever forget the power of the pink tutu!

Pink Tutu Sparkles’ “Magical Sparkling Cupcakes”

I created this recipe as a treat after one of my drag performances - we were in an underground nightclub, and all the fabulous drag queens gathered in a dimly lit back room after the show, for our private celebration. What do I do when my queens crave sweet treats? I grab all the delicious sugary treats and set up a pink tutu themed celebration! You can do this at home, or anywhere really! Just use my secret ingredient, the Pink Tutu Sparkles "sparkle sprinkle", for that extra glamorous feel.

You’ll need :

  • * 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened*
  • * 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar*
  • * 3 large eggs*
  • * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract*
  • * 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour*
  • * 1 teaspoon baking powder*
  • * 1/2 teaspoon baking soda*
  • * 1/2 teaspoon salt*
  • * 1 cup buttermilk*
  • * 1 teaspoon pink food coloring*
  • * Pink Tutu Sparkles Sprinkle * (I make mine in Derbyshire using pink sugar crystals, but you can use your favorite sprinkles.)
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 12 regular-size cupcake liners.

  2. Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and the buttermilk to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients, beating well after each addition.

  6. Add food colouring: Carefully mix 1 teaspoon of pink food colouring in, a bit at a time, until the desired pink shade is achieved.

  7. Add the pink Tutu Sparkle sprinkles to your frosting, beat for 30 seconds.

  8. Fill the prepared cupcake liners. Fill about 3/4 full.

  9. Bake for 18-22 minutes , or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  10. Let cool completely in the muffin tins for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
