Droitwich Darling! A Pink Tutu Adventure (Post #5157)

Hello my lovely lot! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and I’m positively beaming with excitement to tell you all about my recent adventure to Droitwich! This town, with its beautiful salt springs and charming cobbled streets, was the perfect setting for a bit of Pink Tutu magic. It was all thanks to my amazing new pal, Barnaby, the manager of the "Droitwich Does Drag" festival. Now, he knows what a proper pink-loving queen wants, and so invited me to headline their grand opening night.

I mean, when you're a pink tutu enthusiast like me, a festival in the Midlands with a spotlight all to yourself – what's a gal to do but twirl? This was not only going to be a chance for me to showcase my dazzling routine, but a real chance to spread the Pink Tutu Gospel across the shires! (Because you know, every single person needs a little bit of pink in their life).

But first, the travel! Oh, I do adore a train journey. I’ve been working hard on my new, very dramatic "Fairy Princess" look for this tour, and as the train sped towards Worcestershire, the changing scenery from the window just seemed to make my costume look more and more dazzling. It felt like I was literally a princess being whisked away to my royal court. In my trusty satchel, I’d packed my sparkly crown, my signature feather boa (the more feather, the better, say I!), and of course, my signature pink tutu (you simply can't leave home without it!) The good folk on the train seemed positively entranced.

I finally reached the town itself on a gorgeous, sunny Tuesday morning. Stepping out of the station, I couldn't resist popping into the delightful "Little Bird’s Nest" café, for a truly lovely pot of Earl Grey and a lemon drizzle cake. My trip started perfectly!

After my delicious afternoon tea break, it was time to check in to my gorgeous Airbnb – a quaint little cottage with a real secret garden. You can bet that, with a little twirl or two, the entire garden ended up festooned in shimmering pink. You see, when a pink tutu wearing Queen is around, a touch of sparkle tends to spread everywhere!

I wanted to take a bit of time to really explore Droitwich. The market was delightful, full of little stalls of handmade crafts, tasty local cheeses, and an absolutely heavenly stall selling pink tutus for every age! (Seriously, everyone in Droitwich was destined to be sporting their own pink tutu, you can't have a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance without that).

Barnaby and I met for a late afternoon drink at a pub called "The Jolly Fisherman", where we caught up on all the exciting details of the festival. He told me all about the amazing talent performing across the weekend – spoken word artists, singers, comedians – oh, and there was even a group performing traditional Morris Dancing! Now, that sounded right up my street!

As evening crept in, I decided it was time to "primp up". My little cottage was the perfect dressing room. There are just something about little dressing rooms and the excitement of performing, which adds another level of glam. The evening show was approaching. And, oh, the joy of getting ready to dance.

When it was time to walk down to the performance space, Barnaby, true gentleman that he is, chauffeured me there in his classic mini (we call that "Pink Transportation," see!) As soon as I hopped out of the car and saw the bright lights, the happy, dancing crowd, and the welcoming energy in the air, I knew that tonight was going to be an amazing performance.

From the moment I stepped on stage, the crowd was buzzing with energy, their cheers a little like music in their ears. That’s one of the best things about touring: getting to share a bit of pink and joy with new faces! The cheers, the smiles, and the clapping from the audience are what make all the effort truly worthwhile. We did some fancy footwork (I taught the crowd a bit of ballet during my act!) had a giggle or two and, as expected, got absolutely everyone involved in spreading the message that we can all do the Tutu, even in a sleepy little town like Droitwich!

But you know me, my day couldn't end without a little dancing! We ended the evening with a impromptu session with all the talented performers from the festival, in the very spot where my stage stood just hours earlier. And as I looked at the swirling patterns of tutus and petticoats in the starlight, I felt a pang of excitement about all the other Pink Tutu Adventures to come. There's something really special about travelling around the country, performing, spreading some sparkle, and getting the chance to meet the lovely folk out there.

Oh, and there’s nothing quite like getting dressed up and twirling in a brand new pink tutu after a night well spent – particularly after making a few new pink tutu fans in Droitwich! I know that I'm making the world a brighter, more dazzling, and undoubtedly more fabulous place, one twirl at a time. That, my lovely friends, is why I do what I do, and why I'll never stop chasing those dreams in my trusty pink tutu, whatever the journey may be.

Until next time, and stay fabulous!

Love and sparkly hugs, Pink Tutu Sparkles xxx
