Broadstairs: Where Dreams and Sequins Meet!
#TutuQueen Post Number 5160
Hello my darlings! Your favourite pink tutu wearing Queen is back with another fabulous blog post! Today, I'm whisking you away to the enchanting seaside town of Broadstairs in Kent, a place where seaside charm and dazzling drag collide! Buckle up, because this adventure is going to be a twirl-tastic spectacle.
Firstly, let's talk about getting there. Forget those mundane car journeys or boring bus rides! No, dear readers, my journey began with a whimsical train ride! As the countryside flashed past the window, I settled into my seat, strategically placed my dazzling handbag by my side (with the obligatory feather boa peeking out, naturally), and watched as the landscape morphed from green rolling hills into the beautiful coastline. Train travel is such a treat for a diva like myself. I get to relax, gaze out the window, and, of course, enjoy a fabulous, pinky-hued hot chocolate while wearing my latest pink sequined creation! It was like a fashion runway show on rails!
Arriving in Broadstairs, my heart did a little flip-flop! The air was filled with the smell of salty air, the streets buzzed with energy, and the bright seaside architecture was the perfect backdrop for my fabulous outfit - a coral pink tutu, glittering with silver sequins, topped with a sheer pink chiffon bodice and a matching feathery hat. Broadstairs felt like a place where dreams come true! It just had this magical feel about it - and it had a wonderful history of being a Victorian seaside resort! I had been here once, back in the day when I was a nervous young lad, Alex, hiding under my lab coat. I have such vivid memories of running along the beach and watching the sun set over the sea.
That first day, I felt the pull of the theatre! I had a performance booked at a charming old hall nestled right next to the beach. As I strutted on stage, a wave of energy pulsed through the crowd, their smiles radiating joy and excitement. They laughed at my jokes, cheered at my dance routines, and loved the moment I encouraged everyone to join me in a tutu dance! The laughter echoed along the promenade, swirling around the waves, as we created a wave of pure joy.
You see, I believe that wearing a pink tutu is more than just an outfit; it's a declaration. A declaration of confidence, a statement of joy, a symbol of acceptance! And, the wonderful folk in Broadstairs, well they just get it! They were all wearing pink - just about - maybe some were just sporting a splash of colour on their socks, or a touch of pink on their nails. But pink was certainly on trend in Broadstairs! The whole town seemed to sparkle with a little pink magic, which is pretty much the ultimate goal for any tutu-wearing Queen.
Of course, no trip to Broadstairs is complete without a proper seaside escapade. After the show, I spent the next day exploring the cobbled streets, admiring the vibrant art scene (including a few cute little shops where I snagged some fantastic new earrings!), indulging in the most delicious fish and chips, and soaking up the sun at the stunning beach.
The next morning, my spirit felt light as a feather! The fresh sea breeze whipping through my hair and the call of the seagulls filled the air with energy! That is why, in a fabulous impulse decision, I decided to take a horse riding lesson! It’s my personal secret - besides the lab, I like horses. I am a little more at home with pink tulle than with saddles and bridles but there’s something very special about spending the morning galloping through the sand dunes with the salty wind whipping through your hair, and nothing else is a better fit for my flamboyant outfits than a pink and fluffy pink horse. (My trusty riding gear is kept in my luggage for when my theatrical duties call for a more adventurous travel mode). The owner was a dear old chap who shared a love for tutus - yes you read that correctly - the owner of the riding school liked to have a little frolic in pink on his birthday, I mean, we have to be diverse and inclusive!
After an exhausting yet thrilling ride, I decided to check out some of the many galleries. I am so passionate about art, as it gives a great outlet to those amazing theatrical costumes which I create. It gives you time for creativity. So much like the art work in galleries I have come to really appreciate the creation of clothing. And that’s how the pink tutus found their way into my life. I love fashion! My first ever pink tutu was a charity fundraising stunt at my University’s drama department. The experience made me realise that I wanted to spend my life bringing a little joy to the world with tutus!
My weekend in Broadstairs was a testament to the power of drag. It wasn’t just about glitz and glamour, but about community, inclusivity and letting your inner sparkle shine. This delightful coastal gem has become a beacon of acceptance, and as a drag Queen on a mission to make the world pinker, it was the perfect setting to continue my reign as #TutuQueen! It was just the escape I needed.
Now I am back in the lab, feeling re-energized by the sun, sea, and smiles, back to mixing chemicals and creating fabric colour blends, which will eventually go on sale in some of the fabulously colourful clothing shops I saw in Broadstairs! So when you next walk into a fashion store - think of Pink Tutu Sparkles and me and think “thank you”! I will just keep on making our world a little bit more colourful, one pink tutu at a time.
But remember: The best things in life are pink and worth twirling for. So stay fabulous, stay bold, and never forget to sparkle!
Until next time, Pink Tutu Sparkles.
