Chatham Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Hits the Kent Coast! ✨💖🩰

Hello my lovelies! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite pink-obsessed drag queen, ready to unleash a fabulous dose of frills and sparkles on you! Today, we're talking travel, tutus and Chatham! It's been a whirlwind week, folks, and let me tell you, this journey was a true pink dream come true!

So, you see, the little old me has a thing for travel - not the high-flying jet set type, oh no. Trains, my dears! I love the gentle rhythm of the tracks, the chug-a-chug as we meander through the countryside. It gives me time to dream up new looks, scribble ideas in my fabulous fuchsia notebook, and perhaps sneak a cheeky custard cream. This week, the train whisked me down to Kent, the Garden of England, where the sweet smell of summer is in the air!

Why Chatham, you ask? Well, my lovely darlings, it was for the Chatham Ballet Festival - imagine, a whole festival dedicated to the beautiful grace and magic of ballet! I've been doing ballet since I was a wee lass (well, that’s how I remember it, anyways - before my pink tutu phase began!), and it’s one of the few times I’ll ever willingly put on shoes that actually pinch my toes! A true testament to my passion, darling!

The festival had everything! Classes for all ages, from tiny ballerinas to seasoned veterans like myself. Performances showcasing everything from traditional to contemporary ballet, with beautiful costuming that inspired me oh-so-much! 🩰 I even popped on a sparkly pink ballet tutu myself, joining in a session with the fabulous folk at the Chatham School of Dance. We danced through "Swan Lake," and let me tell you, the swan tutus were dreamy. Every pink dream a girl could ask for!

Now, I couldn't possibly go to Chatham without taking a good old look around, could I? So I ventured out into the sunshine, stopping by a lovely little vintage tea room where I enjoyed a delicious scone with jam and clotted cream (just as a nice little fuel up for the day, of course). Afterwards, I headed towards the Historic Dockyard, just across the road. Now, it was hot! I’m sure it was hotter in this town, even than my little hometown in Derbyshire.

Of course, I'd already carefully curated the perfect look - a vibrant, coral-coloured floral dress (don’t worry, there was pink in there too!) that I'd found on a fabulous day out at Liberty in London. I paired it with my trademark sparkly pink pumps, and added just a touch of glitter to my pink eyeshadow for good measure. It was the perfect blend of dainty and glam - after all, I never like to overdo it!

Now, this historical dockyard was a real treat for the eyes! Ships from the Napoleonic era, wooden galleons and a floating fort! The history of it all really inspired me, and it made me think how similar dance is to building a ship. There are so many layers and aspects that must all work together perfectly in order for it all to come together as a stunning piece of art!

Did I mention my love for vintage clothes? After all, how else can I achieve that perfect pink princess look?! Well, the dockyard had an amazing little vintage shop bursting at the seams with pre-loved pieces and a rainbow of colourful gems - think pastel pink hats and vibrant emerald dresses, just begging to be bought! I found myself drawn to a gorgeous pink chiffon shawl, absolutely covered in glittering beads - I’d say it's practically a masterpiece! It looked fabulous on the mannequin (and oh, don't get me started on those vintage wigs... truly a treasure trove!), but of course I simply had to have it for my own pink-tutu-wearing self!

You see, darling, when it comes to shopping, I'm all about vintage finds. They offer a unique flair, and, of course, the magic of knowing you're rocking a little piece of history! And don't even get me started on vintage stores and markets, they really are my secret to pink perfection. There's a magical kind of energy there that makes my heart flutter, darling, and always gives me ideas for new and improved looks!

This little adventure was simply fabulous, my darlings. I had such a great time getting to experience a slice of this charming Kent town and, of course, immersing myself in the world of ballet. It just goes to show that a pink-tutu-clad queen can take on the world! (And do it in style, darling!). So keep your eyes peeled, because who knows where Pink Tutu Sparkles will be headed next? Remember, this blog, right here, is all about adventure and embracing the vibrant, joyful life! And if you ever get the chance to visit the lovely town of Chatham, do give me a shout!
