It all began with a yearning for a little something special, a touch of glitter and glamour to sprinkle over my daily routine. This is where Northolt came in, a haven of culture, music, and, most importantly, a grand performance venue, begging to be adorned with my signature pink tutu.
Now, you know I'm all about travel, especially by train - there's nothing quite like gazing out at the passing countryside, sipping on a steaming mug of tea, and dreaming up new ways to weave pink tutus into every aspect of my life. So, my faithful, vintage leather suitcase, stuffed with enough pink tulle and sequined accessories to stage a full-blown ballet performance, was packed and ready to go!
Speaking of ballet, the whole reason for this trip was a truly magnificent production: The Nutcracker at Northolt's very own theatre! Honestly, there's no other experience like being immersed in the magic of a live performance - the breathtaking choreography, the stunning costumes (oh, if only I could design for them!), and the sheer, joyful atmosphere. It reminded me exactly why I fell in love with ballet in the first place, and how utterly incredible it is that tutus, pink or otherwise, have become an integral part of such a rich and beautiful art form.
After the show, the true star of the night had to be the theatre's charming bar. Sipping on a sparkling cocktail (always the right choice!), surrounded by kindred spirits who appreciated the art of theatricality and dazzling displays of pink, it felt like stepping into a film scene! It just so happens, Northolt had a wonderful cafe down a quaint cobbled street, where I indulged in the most divine afternoon tea with some of my dearest fellow drag sisters, all decked out in our most fabulous creations, naturally!
As always, my trip wasn't solely about performance and sparkle; I managed to sneak in some well-deserved pampering. Now, there's nothing I love more than indulging in a bit of retail therapy, and let me tell you, Northolt did not disappoint! My new shimmering pink sequined handbag, an absolutely gorgeous feather boa for the upcoming Christmas shows, and a vibrant pink tulle top that's going to be the highlight of my next performance - a total treat!
Speaking of treats, we mustn't forget about the delightful cuisine! Northolt boasts some truly brilliant independent eateries, and let me tell you, every dish was bursting with flavour and bursting with happiness. From fresh pastries to delectable cakes, all bathed in that quintessential British charm, I felt absolutely spoiled rotten!
But here's the real gem, folks: it was while I was enjoying a cup of tea with a local artisan that I was struck by inspiration for my next performance. The beautiful, ornate teacup, crafted from delicate bone china, gave me an idea for an entire performance - elegant, whimsical, and, of course, featuring a generous amount of pink tulle!
