Get your pink glitter and your dancing shoes ready, darlings, because we're headed for a seaside adventure in Weston-super-Mare! 🌊 This enchanting coastal town was calling to me, beckoning me with its salty air, its charming promenade, and its vibrant community spirit. And as always, a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure just wouldn't be complete without a whole lot of sparkle!
Today’s trip to Weston-Super-Mare was something special, truly magical, darlings. This wasn't just about a day at the beach. It was about sharing my love of tutus, dance, and of course, a whole lot of pink, with everyone I met! You see, Weston-Super-Mare has a special place in my heart. I remember coming here as a child with my family, giggling as the waves splashed my legs and marveling at the rows of brightly colored candy floss on offer. And it seemed the magic still held a firm grip on the town, almost as if time had stood still since those childhood days. I can see why it has remained so popular with visitors over the years.
And what’s better for a seaside trip, especially one for a drag queen with a passion for sparkle and performance, than to arrive by train! I stepped off the platform feeling all the vibrancy of this gorgeous coastal town wash over me, all the salt spray of the sea lifting my spirits like the billows of a fabulous tutu!
So, let's rewind the clock and hop back on the train to relive this pink-tastic journey together.
A Pink Tutu Arrival Fit for a Queen
Oh, my lovelies, the anticipation built up with every chug of the train. It was a symphony of excitement for the day ahead! The journey had begun on a cold crisp morning in Derbyshire. And, by golly, the trip up to Weston-Super-Mare was as much about preparing myself mentally for the show and celebrating the glorious journey of my life. In that train compartment, I slipped on the most breathtaking pink tutu I’d ever created. It shimmered with countless shimmering sequins that danced as if they had a life of their own, catching the light like magic. This magnificent garment had a hint of coral red and a smattering of silver sparkles. It was truly a reflection of my spirit - joyous, playful, and utterly feminine!
For this special occasion, I had to match the sparkle of the tutu! My face shimmered with my favourite pale pink, almost-but-not-quite pearlescent foundation. To contrast, my cheeks flushed with deep pink rouge and a pink highlighter. And a bold, crimson red pout matched my coral, pink and silver, tutu perfection. The eyes were, as always, bold. Pink, purple, silver and coral eyeshadow shadow shimmered and glistened! It looked, oh, so dazzling in the bright sunshine that glistened on the tracks, shining so vibrantly. And it wasn’t just me who looked radiant.
There were many excited onlookers gazing with admiration through the windows as I sashayed through the stations.
Beach Promenade Glam
Let’s head onto the beach and enjoy the sunshine! ☀️
First stop, the beach promenade! This long stretch of paved walkway was an explosion of seaside charm and wonder! The ocean was like a sapphire sea, stretching out for miles, so beautifully breathtaking. And a delightful pink sunset lit up the horizon with hues of rose, magenta and coral.
To be perfectly honest, I spent much of the day posing for photographs! And no Pink Tutu Sparkles outing is complete without a photoshoot! 📸 So, I twirled and twirled. It seemed everyone who walked past us paused for a moment and looked on in amazement as they were captivated by my graceful performance.
And this was only the start of the Pink Tutu Sparkles seaside spectacle.
Afternoon Dance Delight
After an early, leisurely afternoon tea on the pier, with delicious scones, cakes and plenty of tea, we popped into a lovely shop with a dance shop next door. You bet I waltzed on in and purchased two more beautiful tutus! One had feathery, pastel-pink accents, while the second one was vibrantly red. The perfect accessory to bring out the inner sparkle! As a Tutu Queen, it’s all about spreading that sparkle, you know!
After all, the world's a stage, darling, and I always try to find a way to add a little bit of extra sparkle to whatever I do.
Ballet Ballet! Of course, it was ballet
And, oh, my lovelies! What’s a Pink Tutu Queen seaside escapade without a visit to the theatre to see a local ballet performance? I had the pleasure of enjoying an amazing, stunning ballet at The Playhouse! 🩰 I was enchanted by their interpretation of Tchaikovsky's ‘Swan Lake'. This wasn’t the traditional ‘Swan Lake’, darling. This one featured innovative staging and contemporary interpretations. But the overall production and artistry, especially the elegance of the dancers in their ethereal costumes, took me straight to a land of fairytales and romance!
For a performance, it was important to feel confident and empowered. So, to top it off, I wore my beautiful pearl-pink sequinned, ruffled tutu with its beautiful frilled overlay and soft, romantic layers of tulle, over a floor-length, pale-pink dress and, of course, the must-have finishing touches of a glittering crown and sparkling wand. For those who hadn’t spotted my entrance into the theater, it would be difficult not to spot me! You couldn’t miss the glitter trail as I walked towards my seat. The performance was spellbinding. The dancers' moves were so graceful, and their energy was infectious! I danced in my seat!
I was so proud that there was a big pink Tutu Sparkles element of magic and sparkle woven into the event! If it’s meant to be, I’ll try my hand at teaching some beginner classes or possibly even performing here myself.
Oh, the glamour of Weston-super-Mare, my lovelies! And the most beautiful and spectacular thing is its vibrant community spirit. I found this town embraces life to its fullest. As Pink Tutu Sparkles, I always feel welcomed by all as I am here to inspire and enthrall everyone to step into their own, inner pink tutus.
