Helloooo my fabulous friends! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, beaming at you all the way from the sunny shores of Paignton, Devon! Oh my, the seaside is absolutely calling to me with its charm, its delightful breezes, and those delicious fish and chips – can’t a girl be a little seaside-obsessed? But don’t worry, this post isn't all about seaside delights! I'm here to tell you all about my adventures this weekend and my fabulous foray into the world of Paignton theatre.
You know me, darlings, always on the go, always seeking out new adventures! This time, I decided to take a little jaunt by train down to Paignton. My goodness, those carriages were simply divine! I think the best part of any journey, let’s face it, is the ride! As the train zoomed past fields and little towns, I was in a total fantasy world. My mind was ablaze with ideas for a new set piece for my show! Imagine it – a dazzling array of swirling colours and textures, all inspired by the stunning scenery whizzing past the train window! Now, I'm just not sure if the steam engine could quite carry the whole set… 😉
Speaking of sets, I have a secret for you! You know I adore theatre, and when I’m not in my Pink Tutu Sparkles drag persona, I actually find myself quite often glued to the ballet screen, or in the middle of a ballet class. I’m currently doing a rather splendid beginners’ ballet class! Don’t you think it’s lovely to be a perpetual student? Learning new things is, to quote my gran, ‘just so lovely!’.
But back to Paignton. As a real-life pink tutu advocate, you bet I went to see the local ballet show - "The Enchanted Sea" at the Palace Theatre! I was positively transported by the intricate costumes, the incredible storytelling, and, of course, the magic of ballet. All those graceful movements! They simply melted away my troubles! Do you ever have days when the ballet just sweeps away any stress or negativity? Well, it does for me. And in Paignton, under the beautiful lights of the Palace Theatre, that magical feeling was even stronger. I actually found myself getting swept away in the story! (Maybe a little too much - I nearly jumped on stage myself!)
The best thing is that after the show I bumped into the star ballerina of the night. What a total dream come true. She was utterly fabulous and really made my day. And to top it all off, she loved my pink tutu, giving me a nod of approval that sent shivers down my spine!
Paignton isn’t just about theatre, darling! The shops were a complete dream - overflowing with treasures just waiting to be scooped up. My luggage came back quite full, I’m not going to lie! I actually picked up a rather delicious and frankly ludicrous pink sequin scarf for my stage show. I know, my dearest followers, it is totally flamboyant, utterly perfect, and it adds the perfect splash of pink to any stage ensemble.
Speaking of the perfect splash of pink, don’t you just feel more positive and upbeat when wearing pink? Maybe I'm just a bit bonkers but it’s my life goal, really, to see the whole world in pink. All my favourite things are pink. Just the colour, pink, that makes everything so much brighter and beautiful! Do you know the most perfect thing I saw while strolling around the streets of Paignton? It was a delightful little shop with pink ribbons adorning every window – a sheer explosion of pink happiness! I just had to go in and pick up a couple of little things – it was truly a beautiful place.
For dinner I headed to this gorgeous seafood restaurant. The scent of the fish cooked in that wood-fired oven made me swoon, my darlings. It’s safe to say that the whole experience had me feeling positively sparkly and bubbly! And I know exactly what I’m wearing to my next performance – a glittering, dazzling ensemble featuring the most luxurious pink sequins, topped off with my pink sequin scarf – how absolutely wonderful, don't you think?
Of course, after a wonderful weekend like this, it’s always a bit of a wrench to return to everyday life. It was definitely back to reality after a few days of sunshine, sea and dancing.
Well my dears, I just can’t wait for my next adventure! Who knows where my journey will take me next! It’s all about having fun, sparkling bright and embracing all that life has to offer – in pink, of course!
