Littlehampton, My Tutu Travels! 🩰✨ (Post #5536)

Oh, darling! Can you believe it's been a whole week since my last blog post? I know, I know, shocking! But don't worry, I've been up to all sorts of exciting things! As usual, I'm back on my favourite sparkly-studded, tutued adventures. This week took me to Littlehampton, a lovely little seaside town on the south coast of England, for a whirlwind of twinkling performances and seaside escapades. You know I just love a good train journey, and the wind whipping through my pink curls as I sped towards the coast was just delightful!

As a reminder to those new to my blog, Pink Tutu Sparkles here, also known as Alex in the daylight hours. If you're ever down in Derbyshire and want to see what I do in the lab, drop me a line - but it's my day job and there's no glitter involved, I can promise you that. This is Pink Tutu's corner of the world, and I can't even describe the joy of sharing my love of tutus, pink, and all things beautiful with you lovely readers! I just love seeing those sparkly little eyes widen with joy when you catch a glimpse of my latest tutued creation. 🥰

My first stop in Littlehampton was a local arts centre, which seemed so quaint! It had a very 'vintage' feel to it with the faded velvet curtains and a bit of chipped paint on the set pieces - very "A Little Night Music" vibes! I must admit I couldn't help but shimmy down the side of the stage, like a little sugar plum fairy come to life, when nobody was looking. We had a ball with the local ladies, singing old school hits and doing some little dance numbers for the appreciative audience.

But Littlehampton had more treats in store for me! After my performance, we all piled into my lovely sparkly car (think candyfloss pink with lots of cute tutus around the back) and drove down to the beach for a picnic supper. Now, there is nothing that quite beats a British seaside picnic on a sunny afternoon! Especially when you're surrounded by friendly people who've taken to wearing little pink tutus (inspired by my performance of course!). There's something about being on the beach, with the sea air on your face, the salty spray on your hair (and thankfully just on my hair, not my carefully crafted tutu), and the sound of seagulls calling to you... It just takes you back to childhood.

You see, my friends, I always knew that a science degree wouldn't be my be-all and end-all, and I can’t lie, being in that lab was actually starting to make me feel a little bit blue (the non-colour!). Then I got my big break at a university fundraiser. I helped out at the costume stall, and while other students grabbed pirate hats and monster masks, something deep inside me screamed, “Tutu!" And as I donned that sparkly, frilly garment I felt...completely at home. The laughter and applause, the feeling of connecting with people through the shared language of dance and joy – it lit up my soul like a thousand glittering diamonds.

I’ve always loved dance. My mum told me that I used to wear pink fluffy tutus around the house as a kid, twirling and swirling to every bit of music! And I don't know about you, but there is something absolutely magical about a ballet. When I went to my first performance with my Granny when I was little, all dressed in my favourite princess costume, it just swept me away! Those graceful moves, the dazzling costumes, the elegant storytelling...I was entranced. So you can imagine my joy at stumbling across the ballet school in Littlehampton. Their windows were painted in gorgeous scenes from "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker", with little sparkly snowflakes and all. I took a peek inside, just to look, but before I knew it I was on a tour!

My darling, it was such a dream come true! I got to meet the talented tutors (in their perfectly-tied ballet buns and adorable matching leotards!), try on one of the prettiest tutus in pale pink silk with all those pretty little layers, and peek inside a ballet class for a bit. It's no surprise that when it came time to find my own little "Tutu School" for me to spread a bit of pink magic around the countryside, I had to call it "The Pink Tutu Sparkles Dance Academy!" What better name, right? I started with some dance classes on weekends and in between my regular performing schedule, and soon, my class became a haven for dancers of all ages and backgrounds - with an emphasis on the pink of course!

Littlehampton was so lovely! This town has the most fantastic people and the most beautiful coastline, even if it is a bit chilly! You should definitely go and visit if you get the chance! But just as a quick tip, bring your raincoat... and perhaps a little pink tutu of your own! You never know, you just might get caught in a flurry of tutu fun while you're there! It certainly brought the biggest sparkle to my weekend, I can assure you. I do have a whole collection of pink tutus of course (one for every mood) but I don’t need a reason to add a new one! You can tell just by looking at this blog that my collection never ends! It was a weekend filled with dazzling lights, vibrant energy, and the irresistible allure of pink tutus, leaving me feeling like a beautiful little pink butterfly! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a new, pink and sparkly project to work on... maybe something in lime green tulle for my next stage show!

Oh, and remember, darling, always choose a life full of glitter and joy. And of course, never hesitate to add a little pink tutu magic to your day! Until next time, darling! ✨
