Urmston Calling! A Pink Tutu Adventure

Hello darlings, and welcome to Pink-Tutu.com! It's your favourite tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another instalment of my fabulously flamboyant travel diaries. Today's post is dedicated to the charming town of Urmston, a hidden gem just a hop, skip and a jump (well, maybe a short train journey) from Manchester!

Urmston, with its pretty little houses, charming tea shops and the occasional passing horse-drawn carriage, had a real fairytale vibe about it. But before I even left the station, the day began in true Pink Tutu style – imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a little pink tutu-wearing angel in the station buffet. She had those big, wide, hopeful eyes you see in children, and a smile as bright as a thousand twirling sparkles. I'm pretty sure she whispered "Tutu Queen!" at me - what a divine little human, she completely made my day.

Of course, a journey to Urmston isn't complete without a little shopping. I popped into a divine little boutique called "Twirling Tresses" (couldn't resist a name like that!). Now, I'm not saying I got a bit carried away, but let's just say there were some fabulous sequinned shirts, velvet bows, and yes, some seriously chic pink tutus, coming home with me. It's all about having a little extra sparkle in life, isn't it?

I was especially excited about this visit, you see, as Urmston is a hotbed of all things theatrical and dance related. You can see the passion for the stage bubbling in the streets - all those dancing shop window mannequins, even the old ladies doing the two-step at the bus stop…

Urmston is home to a very talented local dance company – the "Urmston Ballet Theatre" - so, naturally, I had to check them out! Oh, what an experience! The performance was absolutely breathtaking! There were so many incredible moments - that beautiful "Sleeping Beauty" finale, the dramatic "Swan Lake" sequence... I was transported to a world of grace and wonder. Let's just say I even had a bit of a cry (just a little teardrop, darling).

Then, I popped along to a local theatre, the "Urmston Players," where I stumbled upon a "Moulin Rouge" style performance – complete with glamorous showgirls, elaborate costumes, and some truly memorable song-and-dance numbers! Talk about entertainment overload! My sequins practically flew off when the curtain closed!

Now, you can’t talk about Urmston without mentioning its history - especially, I hear, the charming Victorian houses that have graced the town for so long. I had to visit "The Old Hall" and see the amazing history preserved there, complete with a very stately old garden. I felt like I had stepped right into a Jane Austen novel. And for you history buffs, there's "Urmston Library", where you can wander through ancient manuscripts, with stories that will whisk you away to forgotten worlds. I did, though, manage to make a very fashionably late entry to my very fancy "Afternoon Tea at the Vicarage" – I simply couldn’t leave that enchanting Library without a few souvenirs, including, you guessed it, another magnificent pink tutu!

Speaking of tutus, you can't escape their influence even when you step out of Urmston and onto the streets of Manchester - in a good way! This vibrant city was buzzing with fashion, fun, and some serious dancing. You've never seen a parade quite like it! It turns out it was their annual “Pink Tutu Parade”! It's incredible to think this small, quirky idea blossomed into a dazzling spectacle – I mean, have you ever seen so much pink in one place?

You won't find a more joyous sight than a crowd of smiling faces, each wearing a tutu in a symphony of pink hues. It's a spectacle that will take your breath away - I, of course, immediately joined the festivities in my own sparkling creation. Imagine, darling, the feeling of a million little pink twirls dancing around me – it’s the kind of happiness you just can’t resist.

Urmston, oh how you've captured my heart. Your warmth, charm, and pure delight are unlike any place I've visited! This experience solidified what I’ve always known: a pink tutu is the key to unlocking joy! So grab one, darlings, embrace the world with a playful twirl, and join the pink tutu revolution! And until next time, keep sparkling!

Love, Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
