Blyth, Baby! The Tutu Takes Flight!

Hey loves! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Queen, here with a juicy blog post all about my recent adventure to the lovely seaside town of Blyth, up there in Northumberland! It's post number 5604 for you gorgeous lot, and believe me, this one's a right royal flutter!

Remember how I was telling you about getting all that exciting pink tulle and sequins delivered? Well, my darlings, they were made for Blyth! I'm talking pink tulle in every shade from bubblegum to flamingo, all shimmering under the spotlight, ready to take the North East by storm! I literally couldn't wait to get there and get those tutus twirling.

This week, the train journey was a total treat. Not only did I snag a comfy seat by the window (facing forward, of course! I'm a Pink Tutu Queen, not some kinda backward-looking grump!) but I also got to admire the glorious green countryside whipping by. It was like watching a giant, moving tapestry, only with fewer sheep and more industrial estates. Don't get me wrong, sheep have their place, and I've got nothing but love for a good wool knit.

Arriving in Blyth felt like stepping back in time - a sweet seaside town, full of history, charm, and a slight whiff of seagull. I admit, the air did have a slightly salty scent. It reminded me of a certain time at the seaside when I was a little boy, wearing my favourite polka-dotted swimsuit... well, let's not get into that shall we?

But anyway, the important part is: I was ready to hit Blyth with the Pink Tutu Power.

Now, as a fellow Pink Tutu enthusiast, you'll be delighted to know that this town has a rather amazing tradition. It seems the local ballet school (oh my goodness, you could practically hear the tutus rustling from miles away!), decided to dedicate a whole month to ballet performances. Yes, every week in the same month, they have ballet shows! The absolute dream. It just proves, even if your nearest ballet company is a long train ride away, somewhere, somehow, ballet is ALWAYS ready to dance!

And who was the guest star at the main event? Yours truly. My dear friends, the audience was thrilled! Every seat was taken. You've heard of sold-out shows, right? This was practically "sold-out AND overflowing-with-fans"

As for the act? Well, I whipped up something truly spectacular: Imagine a rainbow of tutus, each shimmering with rhinestones and feathers, swirling, flipping, and finally... the grand finale! Me, center stage, a majestic vision in my new, hand-beaded pink tutu. You know the kind. I even had those fancy fluffy things - you know, the ones that are just * begging * to be admired... I told you, it was magical.

Blyth itself? You know me, I love a good walk! I mean, I don't want to leave the train behind and head off on a good old fashioned hoof-it....no no, my love, that would be for those poor, deprived folks who haven't discovered the joys of train travel yet! My darling, it just isn't about a point-to-point journey... it's about savouring the adventure! Sigh but, yes, walking is necessary to explore properly... and Blyth is perfect for that.

Now, darling, Blyth has this lovely old pier - perfect for strutting about with all your Pink Tutu friends and feeling like a real, genuine diva, if I do say so myself! And if the beach happens to be covered in... well... pebbles? Don't fret, we're Pink Tutu Queens, not princesses. We can handle a pebble or two. Or twenty. We don't need velvet-cushioned carriages or carriage doors adorned with delicate lace, just to find the beach... Just grab your tutu, a glass of bubbly... Oh wait, can't ever be drinking at a public event... My darling, never drink and tutu! It is dangerous! No, no, grab a large, brightly colored iced beverage with a fancy plastic straw. Or maybe one of those fabulous iced coffee's. Oh, you have such lovely colors... but, darling, don't let the beach sand get in them... cough cough it doesn't mix very well.

We also had a blast discovering the charming little shops and quirky cafes - they were full of charm and a sense of adventure, just like our favourite tutus! Plus, you know, shopping... let's face it, shopping and a drag queen is practically an unstoppable combination.

Now, I'll let you in on a little secret - the best part of my trip was definitely the people. The Blyth locals, bless them, are just the warmest and most welcoming. They were thrilled to see me in my tutu, even the little kids, they were like, “OMG! Is that a Tutu Queen? OMG, is it REAL! ” (well, that's how I interpreted those wide-eyed, big grins... don't be fooled, those are genuine, high-pitched squeaks they emit...) But that's the best kind of love... honest to goodness, innocent excitement! It's all those sweet, little things in life, that make life truly worth living, darlings... I mean, think about it: You see some lovely, happy folks all enjoying the moment, smiling at you... it truly warms the heart, it's heartwarming!

So, if you ever find yourself longing for a charming seaside getaway with a sprinkle of pink-tutu magic, be sure to make Blyth your next destination. Just be sure to keep your tutus twirling!

And now, let's get to what you really care about: the * real* highlights of my trip to Blyth.

My Blyth Highlights
  1. A Feast Fit for a Pink Tutu Queen! My darling, I don't know about you... But when * I * get hungry, well... I get hungry. So, this cafe by the sea, all light and breezy... They were kind enough to cook up something super fabulous, that was just so pretty. Oh, I know what you're thinking... is it pink? Of course, darling, you just know that every dish had to be pink. You just knew that.

Imagine... creamy, dreamy strawberry soup. I am talking super, duper smooth, perfectly chilled. Not just any strawberrys, my darling, they used those tiny little wild ones... The tiny strawberries just melted on my tongue, they were SO delicious. The little pink spoon (yes, darling, it had to be pink! pink everything!), I don't think I stopped for breath, so yummy, but just one little tiny sip before taking a pic, * just * for my sweet, devoted blog followers... (love you!). And then came the * pièce de résistance: a plate piled high with succulent, pan-fried chicken breast in a gorgeous rose petal sauce... And don't even get me started on the vegetables... (I am a veggie person!) I loved it... Honestly, the plating was beautiful, all arranged with artistic grace... like a masterpiece from an art gallery. So much better than that weird broccoli you have with the rubber chicken thing at a posh pub! Then came dessert: I don't even need to explain - pink and *tutu delicious! (of course). Seriously, my darlings, if you’re a foodie like myself... (and, who isn't? Let's face it, if you're not, you are doing it wrong!) * You have to experience this, at least once*.... it really was perfection.

  1. Meeting the True Queen of the Ballroom!

So, * obviously* , being a lover of ballet myself... I had to hit up a dance class... But, what is better than one dance class? It is about two hours before the show and they are still practicing! The whole experience! The students were delightful. And oh, darling, the costumes! Such graceful swans, so elegantly flowing and with a twirl, just a swish of those long tutus... they practically floated across the dance floor. Then, just as I was trying to steal some moves for my act (just one little tiny inspiration!) the queen herself walked in. I'm talking the actual director of the ballet company... Now, let me tell you, darling, you can't find anything like that down south... it's true, you simply cannot . The most glamorous woman... in the world. And yes, my dears, it had to be true, because she had her own tiara on... with diamonds! Just the sparkle of those stones, they had the entire dance floor shining like a rainbow... She gave us all a dazzling smile. Oh, the power... The absolute regal aura, you could feel the elegance... And, my dear darlings, do you know what she told us? She said that, after all her years, the very best way to improve ballet is to twirl with joy. Oh! And then, just as quick, she popped a pair of ballet shoes, on, threw herself into the dance class, all gracefully twirling her sparkly, tutu and... well... that just set my little Pink Tutu heart aflutter, the joy, it radiated through every fiber of my being... the real Queen of the Ballroom...

  1. Bringing The Tutu Power To the People

Now, every Queen has a mission... and mine, my darling, is to bring the joy of the Pink Tutu to the entire world! So, with a bit of tulle, a lot of glitter and some sparkly ideas, we set up a pop-up shop. (of course it was in pink) Yes! My love... That's me. A proper, * real-life, *living breathing, Tutu Queen.... (we all know it takes so much more than that to earn the crown but let's not go into that)

So, you can guess what we had... That's right! Tutus! But not just any tutus! We had them in every shade, shape, and style... There were twirly ones for spinning... there were short ones to show off a little leg and, of course, we had those fabulous long tutus... you know the ones, the kind you imagine a beautiful ballet star twirling in! Each one adorned with glitter and bling... Every tutu had the potential to transform anyone from * plain jane* to * absolute superstar. And that is * magic if you ask me. I don't know about you, darling, but a fabulous pink tutu makes me * feel* amazing!

Oh my goodness, do I need to tell you the excitement... * all those sweet folks* buying tutus. A whole, entire shopping area dedicated to pink. The smiles... it really was worth every ounce of glitter that covered my body...

Well, darlings, That's Blyth in a Pink Tutu! And if I could summarise this lovely, sweet little seaside town in one word? * It’s magical. * So, keep on dancing and twirling with your best pink tutus, and I’ll see you in the next blog post. You bet I’ll be ready to go, right on schedule... that's my pinky swear.
