Ashington Adventures: Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes on the North East! (Post #5654)

Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to whisk you off on another sparkly adventure, this time to the vibrant town of Ashington, nestled in the heart of the North East! It feels so good to be back on the road, my travelling tutu bouncing with excitement, after another thrilling performance last night in a dazzling setting right here in the North East. Oh, and have you heard, there’s a new train line from here to Edinburgh, perfect for tutu-clad trips to the Fringe Festival! Can you imagine? All the pink and sequins!

From Derbyshire to Ashington: The Journey Begins

It was a blustery day when I boarded the train in Chesterfield. My big pink suitcase (oh it’s the most glorious thing!) was crammed full of gorgeous dresses, flamboyant feathers and of course, the very pink tutu I'll be performing in tonight. (By the way, if you ever have the chance to travel by train in the UK, just do it! They’re such an affordable and scenic way to see the country! ). The journey flew by, it’s so wonderful to feel that excitement growing as you get closer to your destination.

Ashington's welcoming smiles warmed me from the moment I arrived. A vibrant market square bustling with folks doing their weekly shop, the kind of genuine North Eastern welcome that makes you feel right at home. It reminds me so much of my own village back in Derbyshire, except the village market only ever has carrots and cabbages. It’s a far cry from the kind of glitter and shimmer my life has been about since discovering the power of the pink tutu back in university. I’m pretty sure that pink is more powerful than the lab I work in every day. They do say you wear the pink, the pink doesn’t wear you!

From Labs to Luminous Lights: My Day Job and Nightlife

Speaking of labs, by day I'm just your average scientist in Derbyshire, hunched over microscopes and beakers. I work at a pretty incredible company that tests fabrics, so in some ways my real-life lab job is a bit of an inspiration for my night-time performances. We can use technology to give us endless colours, patterns, textures, so I can totally see why designers have endless options! The fabric I’m testing right now is a light, shimmering silk, just like the tulle in my favourite tutu. It’s got that floaty, airy feeling, the sort of stuff I'd love to twirl in for a dance, although the lab manager is quite disapproving of the impromptu tutu performances on my lunch breaks.

Ashington Awakes: A Pink Tutu's Night Out

But back to Ashington. This evening the main hall of the Town Hall has been transformed into a glittering palace for tonight's performance. A riot of colour, laughter and dazzling lights, ready to be painted by a splash of pink tutu magic! It's a wonderful thing to see. The anticipation is in the air, and you can almost smell the sequins!

It was so exciting to see everyone dancing, their smiles like sunshine. There were even some kids there in pink tutus - and my mission to get everyone wearing one is steadily spreading! I performed my famous 'Pink Tutu Ballet' to a sold out hall. It's a little bit of classic ballet, mixed with some sparkly contemporary, and a big dose of Pink Tutu Sparkle. I love how the audience cheers every time I twirl. It's like a big pink hug from the universe.

A Night To Remember: A Star in Ashington

Later that night, we sat down to dinner at one of Ashington's many restaurants (it’s famous for its fish and chips!). The food was divine, and the local cider was delicious. What makes a pink tutu queen's night truly memorable though is the kind words from the audience after my show, especially when they say they’ve never seen anything like my performance, that it brought them joy. A moment of connection, the reason I wear the pink. That feeling that makes all the glittery hard work worthwhile.

Ashington will always be special. A beautiful place with heart and warmth, the place where I knew that Pink Tutu Sparkles’ mission, to bring sparkle to the world, one pink tutu at a time, was working. And as we say goodbye to the vibrant lights of Ashington and the kind faces that make it so special, I can’t help but look forward to our next pink adventure.

So, until next time my loves, stay sparkling and wear your pink with pride!

Lots of love, Pink Tutu Sparkles xxx
