Hello darlings, it's your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and welcome back to post number 5674! As I've said before, it's not always easy to make it to a show every night, so it's the travelling between them that keeps things interesting, darling!
This week, I ventured up north to the fabulous town of Hindley! Now, I've always loved a bit of travelling, and the romance of the open road is a real draw for me, even if I prefer a carriage journey (or maybe a first-class train!) over an actual car ride, to be perfectly honest! 😅 But whatever my chosen form of transport, getting to explore the different places that need a dose of pink tutu magic always keeps me going.
Now, you know how much I love ballet, darling! It's such a captivating art form. You can lose yourself in the story, be amazed by the incredible costumes and let your mind soar with the elegance of the movements. Recently I've even taken up classes myself – just the occasional ballet class for beginners. It's good exercise and great to have a bit of fun and release all that creative energy, especially after a long day testing fabrics in the lab! Did I mention that I work in a lab by day, and I'm a scientist in the field of textiles? It’s not glamorous, darling, but it's what pays the bills and allows me to indulge in my true passion – drag! 👠💄
Hindley's always been on my list of places to visit, because it's home to such a fascinating historic theatre. And, even though it's a little less grand than the Royal Albert Hall in London (where I've had the absolute honour of performing in the past!), its charm and the community spirit around the building truly warmed my heart. I love those smaller venues with all their stories to tell, darling!
You see, this week's been all about performance and showcasing that special, sparkly joy that comes from pink tutus and a good dose of sequins! And, of course, no performance would be complete without a little outfit planning, darling. 😉 Let's be real, any queen worth her salt knows that a successful outfit comes with a whole lot of prep! So I made sure my favourite tutu, adorned with even more sparkling embellishments than usual, was ready to shine. You've never seen pink glitter before until you've seen it reflect off a stage with my tutu under the spotlights!
My performance in Hindley was absolutely fantastic. The energy of the crowd was contagious! Everyone was so incredibly supportive, clapping along, chanting, and even throwing confetti (always a nice touch, darlings)! You can see all the amazing pics from the night on my social media, of course. I was even caught up in a hilarious "mish-mash" of giggles and laughter when some kids in the front row, decked out in matching tutus, called me “Pink Sparkles!” Now that was just the kind of cheeky joy I love about these local shows! 😄
It's so lovely seeing kids enjoying drag, you know? Sometimes it feels like spreading the tutu-love to the next generation. And it all goes back to the way I became hooked on pink tutus myself. When I was in university studying science, I did some fundraising for the local theatre in a pink tutu, just for fun. That little act was all it took! Ever since, I've embraced the beauty of tutus, the sheer joy they evoke, and all those glorious pink sequins that make them shine!
My real goal is for everyone to have their own personal pink tutu experience. Maybe you’re drawn to ballet? Or perhaps you're a scientist just looking for a bit of sparkle? Perhaps you're just a fan of fabulousness! Whatever your story, remember that life is all about finding that thing that sparks joy and just embracing it, even if it comes with some feathers and tulle! 😉
