So, you're probably wondering how this gal made it all the way to Belfast, right? Well, darling, you know me, I'm always up for a bit of an adventure. And let's face it, when a fellow queen calls you for a guest spot in her theatre show, you don't say no! It was a spontaneous whirlwind booking - we both love ballet, theatre, and tutus, and let's just say the show promises to be a "tutu" delight!
Before I went all glam and set off for Belfast, I had the most delightful time pre-planning, as always! My packing was a riot, darling! Imagine, a pink suitcase stuffed full of frilly tutus, dazzling diamante headbands, fluffy feather boas and a dazzling array of sparkly tops. And naturally, no journey is complete without a set of those pink ballet shoes. Because you never know when the urge to pirouette strikes! I even packed a few special "pinky" snacks, for my own little tea party in the hotel. Pink macarons anyone?
I simply love to travel, especially when I can take the train. The gentle swaying of the carriage, the soothing sound of the wheels on the track - perfect for people-watching and scribbling down new blog ideas. It’s like a catwalk for those fabulous window scenes – and don’t get me started on the adorable grannies knitting by the window! Pure inspiration for a pink and fluffy knitted cardigan. You just wait until you see it in my next fashion post, darlings!
Reaching Belfast was like stepping onto the stage of a captivating theatrical production. From the grand Victorian architecture to the charming cobblestone streets, there’s a story around every corner, just waiting to be explored. And then there's the River Lagan, glistening in the sunlight, as graceful as a dancer performing on stage - it inspired me so much!
I did have a rather curious experience with a horse while heading to the theatre, mind you. I'm not sure what made him shy, but the second I donned my favourite hot pink tutu, the creature snorted, whinnied, and literally, jumped back! I swear, it looked as if it had seen a ghost. Now, I know what you're thinking, it must have been the tutu. I can't blame him, you see. Every time I'm in full sparkle, people look, even if they've never seen a ballet performance in their life. The tutu has this way of making a dramatic entrance – much like the arrival of a real ballet star, you see!
Well, my darlings, after a hectic day exploring Belfast and settling in my fabulous hotel room – a grand suite, naturally! - I decided to take a bit of time to reflect on my travels. There is something about the sheer magic of theatre that sets my creative juices flowing, just like those fancy lab beakers back in my scientific day! The atmosphere backstage is intoxicating – the scent of costume fabric, the low murmurs of performers, the excitement before curtain rise – it all inspires my creative spark. Honestly, I find that working in a lab isn’t that different from performing as Pink Tutu Sparkles. In a way, testing fabrics and designing my tutus are almost like experiments!
